After some inspection I've discovered that the board slides into the sleeve, if there isn't any glue on the front of the board and the screen cover is removed, you may be able to slide the whole thing out without having to re-solder anything.
You'd literally just be swapping the ego head with the 510 head, obviously you'd have to pop the top cap with damaging the solder on the atty connections, which is difficult because the wires are very short.

I remember reading that someone had seen the board on the Vmax and wasn't impressed.
I completely disagree as there's some very nice engineering here;

The button appears to be the same as the Ego.

I don't know about anyone else, but seeing this little board has me imagining a "double barrel" modification so that I can use 2) 18650 batteries for eternal vaping. I will most definitely be looking into this one! Hehehehehehehe

P.S. - Thanks to DirkBongo for doing what I haven't been brave enough to do yet. Dissecting a VMax to really see the internals, and sharing the pics!

No problem my friend!

I may actually "port" this chip into something else as I'll definitely have issues replacing the atty connection with a madvapes 510. The Vmax atty is all molded into the top cap (bar the center pin obviously) and it's incredibly short.

I don't know if I can grind off enough of the MV atty without actually destroying it and still getting it to fit in the tube.
The board is MM's away from the top cap so it will be a tight squeeze.

Dirk....out of pure curiousity (I may have overlooked a issue you were having),but is their any reason why you broke the Vmax completely down and are trying to alter or change it ? Is/was their something about it you didn't like about it ?
Im all about taking something apart to make it better, kinda why I ended up and chose my career feild, but even I couldn't find anything on the VMAX to really improve on or modify...other than a few aesthetics.

I dropped it with the Kir Fanis Trap tank in situ.
The outer thread of the Boge broke off in the atty connection, I then managed to destroys the threads on the atty connection trying to remove the offending Boge piece...

I wouldn't have taken apart unless I had to - I loved this thing!

The good news is that I managed to drill out the atty connection plus grind the end from a madvapes 510 connection (which I'm soldering in to the top cap) I've used an industrial buffing wheel to remove the logos and now it's shinier than the chrome I have.

I don't think the atty connection will be entirely perfect looking but I'll have a working steel Vmax again.

Hey brotha I may end up having a spare/left over black top cap in the next few weeks...if I end up not using it ......if you would like it....it's yours. I don't want to promise ANYTHING at this point but there is a good chance I'll have an extra 1 left over. ....Food fo thought anyway. Let me know what ya think when you have the time. Take care and good luck with your unfortunate but cool project. Also , sorry you had the accident that started this whole issue. Dropping a mod with a tank on it is the worse....it usually ALWAYS ends bad for the mod.

I know I probably can't, but does anyone know where I could get a spare vmax board?

I'll keep you posted but as soon as I know if I'll have the extra top cap for"Dirk" I'll know if I'll have a extra board also. Just bare with me and I'll keep you both posted to the situation. Probably bout 2 weeks away from knowing for sure 1 way or the other.

Other than that, not real sure.

I know it's not really the battery we use for the "MAX" but we all probably use the size at some point or another. Here's a very interesting email attachment I received today ...I think you will all be interested in these results.

Once again our new awesome battery is taking out the competition. Well atleast 1 of them. I can't wait to get a few of these in my hands so I can do the same side by side comparison tests. Hopefully by the 5th I'll have em.

Check this out...Link : AW IMR 2000mAh v Efest IMR 2000mAh v Panasonic CGR18650CH | BudgetLightForum.com

Enjoy !!

It's a loss for all of us when someone like you who positively contributes to a thread must exit. You will be missed. I take it you can't say any more or you would have.

My question is i ordered a black Vmax yesterday from goodejuice and wanted to know if anyone could tell me what version i will get. I read about the newer ones after i had placed my order and have a feeling i am getting a v1, not a big deal, think ill be happy, just would have been nice to be able to turn off that red led. thanks all.

99% sure it will be the v1. Nick has excellent customer service so if you run into issues with yours, let him know and he'll make it right.
