Thanks for all the replies my brothers, I will try to adjust the voltage and see if that helps. The problem is I only use the emdcc and they are like 1.5 ohm. If I go past 3.4v it gets burnt. I have tried a few 3 ohm cartos, boge, and a couple Smoktech, but after having a carto that holds so much liquid it's hard for me to give them up :)

U see I am an infamous tank killer, I just can't get the hang of it and we do NOT get along. Also I have tried to watch all the chatter about the rebuildables, but it's all way over this girls head atm.

So u see, I am stuck in the land of 3 ml to 5 ml cartos, and the flippin 10 sec shut off!! Lol :p

Thanks Vapnj for welcoming me back, but like I said, when u all start talking RAs or I quickly get lost, but I will always come back to this thread, I like being the lil sister! ;)

I was messing around building coils on this newer knock off version of the Phoenix RA and the coil I have in it now causes the VMax to make a unusual whinning sound. What's that mean Vapn? The coil glowed perfectly even and it's positioned perfect so can't see it being any kinda short. If I put the other Phoenix back on it the sound goes away.

I actually tried the same thing with the vmax and a vivi nova tank...

Not sure what caused it, but it stopped doing it after a while.

Mine makes that sound once in awhile.. I am no expert in any way, but I just assumed it was the current flowing though the coil making the sound..

I figured it's either something on the MB or just the current flowing from the batts through everything to the coil. Just wanted to see since Vapn mentioned it that if he knew what exactly it was.

Opt.... Man I've been trying to figure this out for 2 solid weeks now. I 1st noticed this same phenomenon myself after I put the Smoktech SRT or whatever the hell this thing is. I was PM'd from many people that had the same thing happening....BUT ONLY with Rebuildables, that's it, nothing else ever. So for the past 2 weeks I've been putting every R.A. I have on all my VMAX's except the Chrome prototype and putting them all on the scope to see if the wave changes when a R.A. is on it or if ANYTHING changes in the numbers or data due to the R.A. I can't relate or find S*** !!!! It's driving me nutzZ !!! I've got pm's saying their RA killed their VMAX cause it was whinning and buzzing with it on their but I can't find any physical data that can back up the accusation. So all I can say is, I'm aware of the issue but right now I just have no explanation for it. More importantly I can't say if that sound is the VMAX screaming...."GET THIS RA OFF ME, I DON'T LIKE IT"!!!!! I have emailed my buddy at Smoktech about this, he's aware and heard the same sound with their new rebuildable on it also. He's trying to find out why it does this also, we left the Skype call at this...1st one to figure out what, why, where....calls the other back ASAP to let the other know their findings. Till then.....That's all I got. All I can say or recommend is keep a close eye on your VMAX when using the RA that makes it whine/buzz, if you feel/see/notice ANYTHING out of the ordinary happening...TAKE IT OFF!!!! ""IFFF"" it ends up killing your VMAX...I think we have our obvious answer.

OK. So I've got 1 for you to try that's right up your alley. You will need a short blunt tip needle to fill it "upside down" but I think you'll like it if not love it. It's from GV (GotVapes.com, E-cigarette Supplies - Atomizers Cartomizers Mods Juice and more) I'll leave a link below for ya. It's called the Phoenix bottom coil 3mL tank. I just got it yesterday and I can't lie...these things are awesome to be what they are. The 1st thing I thought of was the epic fail G4 carto when I saw these, then I read from another trusted VMAX owner that they were great. Well he was right, I have never tasted flavor this dominant and robust from a clearomizer/bottomcoil type carto like this. The flavor IS NOT muted at all, if anything it's kinda amplified. No, dry, burnt, nasty hits at all. It wicks crazy good. I use the 2.6-2.8Ω ohm on my Vmax at 3 volts and my ProV V2 at 3.8-4.1 volts and the vapor is thick and full. The TH is really ideal for what my preference is, I would rather vapor so thick and full it delivers the Throat hit, not the Nic or PG. I went down from 24mg to 10-12mg and I count on thick vapor to give me the 'light' TH I want and prefer. These things really are a very nice unit, I'm definitely buying tons of these. They just work so good on every level. I still can't believe they wick the way they do keeping up with the VMAX and me chainin'. VERY IMPRESSIVE!!

Ok, so after using the VmaX SS rev4 for a couple weeks now, Im realizing something else. Now keep in mind I've been used to using the ProVari which we all know "What you set is what you get" throughout the whole cycle until batts need charging. But with the VmaX we've all realized that the calibration is off with what you set and the voltage it actually puts out is way higher..But Now what I'm noticing also is setting the voltage at 4.3 on a new set of batteries is also different than 4.3 volts after the batts have been used a bit..So as the batteries deplete I also have to keep bumping up voltage to regulate back to the 4.3volts I get when its from a set of fresh batts..(so clearly calibration and regulation are the main issues) Is this also happening with everyone else? Or is this just one of the downfalls of using the PWM technology?

Anyone know of current good deals on the V4?

I'm selling my SS V3 already, I hate using an adapter and do notice a power difference when using a carto. I want to try one of the new short Megas without an adapter.

Do you suppose power loss is due to the adapter? As I understand it all the internals are the same after ver.1.

Yeh thats what I mean, it feels dulled when the adapter is used. I have used the same carto straight and in the adapter. Feels to be a loss.
Anything is possible I suppose but change in air flow would be where I think biggest difference would be. I don't know if I would
replace one for Ego threading but I imagine I would buy one just to have one more, kind of a backup for the backup.

I've noticed as well that it hits harder on freshly recharged batteries but with both my v1 and v2 this is only apparent for the first few vapes but it settles down very quickly. Then it remains the same until the last 4-5 draws where it loses steam until the lo batt warning demands recharging. So in essence, on mine the voltage feels the same throughout 99% of the battery discharge.

I went ahead and trashed the coil that was making the sound and built another...now it's fine, no sound. Didn't want to take any chances of frying the VMax. It is very odd that some coils do it and others don't.

Got a SS blue LED eGo top cap VMax today and so far it's flawless. Threads are better than the V1 along with a better button and I can't really tell any difference in the vape at any voltage compared to the V1...hit's like a champ. The eGo top cap isn't as bad as I thought...it's actually nice looking in person. Really diggin the blue screen and SS finish. Overall a nice step up from the V1 IMO.

I don't know if any of you remember ,if not their is a U tube video to refresh your memory, but when the VMAX 1st came out their was a particular person who used horizontal coil Kangers on it. They kept hearing the carto "sing" in a sense. It kinda made a little "tune when it was firing. He took apart the carto to see where it was coming from and it ended up being the actual coil making the sound. I'm not sure if this is the case with RA's and the MAX as I hear the buzzing/whining coming from the actual board location inside the MAX. All Im hoping for is that these types of atty's are NOT contributing to the unexpected shortened life of the VMAX.

Now about something else
And I say this NOT TO BASH but because the same products I ordered were the same products that members in this same thread mentioned and said great things about. So I ask these same members for a little aid in the matter, .....
That being said, has anyone else had questionable products shipped to them from GOTVAPES ??? I didn't really think about it till now but the Vivi nova and the mini I remember them coming in a nice box with extra heads and the mini I was sent was with no heads in no box and just thrown in a bubble bag. No bottom side air hole like theirs suppose to be. I'm really starting to question if this is a genuine nova mini, I've seen another knockoff that looks a lot like a mini but it's called a CE-7 rebuildable and sold from a wholesale website that I buy products real cheap from to try and test before I buy them. I hate to question them right after I recommended "1" of their products in a earlier post but it is what it is. I do really like the Phoenix 3mL tank bottom coils and will probably buy more their so good ...I just thought I was getting 5 in a box with a 1mL filler syringe w/ tip for the $10.45 price tag but I guess thats for some other Phoenix bottom coil in the U tube video he did. Still can't believe I paid $10+ dollars for "1" Phoenix which is basically a 3mL filler-less carto...why are these so expensive ?? Owell...it is what it is I guess.
