Well I got that Phoenix cause I want something to fiddle with it, removed stock 2 ohm coil and 2mm silica and replaced with 2.5 coil and 3mm silica wick, still works good but I was not familiar enough with it yet to know if I improved it or not, I would like to think that I did. Cotton next time. Looks real good on SS max

Anyone hear anything about a ZMAX? Yes, Z not V.
Just wondering

I've only heard of a ZMAX in reference to the Hornady ammunition of the same name.

Anyway about the VMAX. My biggest recommendation is to get one of the stainless steel versions. I have friends with the silver and black painted ones and the paint doesn't seem to have the strength to handle the beating i can cause a pv to take. My stainless one on the other hand, absolutely beautiful and can take a fall and laugh at me.
Also this thing hits harder than anything i've vaped before. Much harder than my SB at 6v.

So where can you buy this Avalon from?!

I bought it from Vapor-Freak

They have a couple of new ones on the site that look pretty cool too (Rex and Rex mini)

My source for cotton wick is kind of unusual and so is my resister wire. If you could see the what transpires with the silica when I remove the wire from it you probably would understand why I use cotton. This heating element is from inside glass tubes, inside an aluminum tube about 3 ft long. 110 volts,25 watts, for keeping damp closet, ect dry.Same resistance per foot as what ever it was that I got from E cig supplier.View attachment 126655

EDIT: Oh my god, I just ordered some 3mm silica wick, scares the heck out of me but it does take a beat'n

A little up date on my new gadget, the Phoenix RB, I have decided I really like it but I still plan on using DC tanks out and about, but if I am at home or able to feed it I want to use it. Kind of spoils a DC tank guy.

Also when I got it the coil legs and wick end were all on one side, does it make much difference as to whether coil leg are pointing in same direction or as instructional video showed, in opposite directions? I tried cotton wick but put it back to glass. I'm very pleased with this device.

It dosen't matter as long as you like the way it vapes then build it as you please :) I'm overly pleased with the Phoenix RA on the VMax...couldn't ask for a better vape.

Unless I hear otherwise, I'm gonna wait until the nipple top batteries charge so I can use a nipple top underneath a flat top and keep both sets in the same charging cycle.... So in the next hour, please let me know if this is a horrible idea lol

I had some conversation with Andrew from CCV Wednesday, when I ordered my vmax. He advised me to get one set of nipple tops and one set of flat tops. He instructed me to use the flat top first and the nipple behind it. The reason was something about the flat top making a better connection to the electronics in the top of the vmax. Having a set of each means that you have two matched sets. I know CCV has rare earth magnets if you still had some concerns.

So, Phoenix guys, I have one on the way.
What wire are you using and how many wraps to make a coil with a high enough resistance to run on the vmax?
I have some 34awg on the way.

With 34awg you can probably run a 3/4 maybe 4/5 coil and get around 3 - 3.2Ω coil. Im using 33awg and running a 4 wrap and getting 2.9 - 3.1Ω with a dual 3mm wick. Runs great at 3.7v on the MAX.

"Z"MAX inquires.......The ZMAX is indeed a VARI-VOLT and VARI-WATT device, it will look like the VMAX but from what I understand have a 4 digit 7 segment display (which means 1 number wider) which will display the wattage in a 8.2w, 10.2w, 10.4w, 10.6w, etc.... type display setup. Their will be a added 7th menu to access the switch from V V to V W. It's running the same type chipset as the Nivel chip. Multiple user settings (around 24 I "think") among a few added specs yet to be announced. As I find out more I'll keep everyone posted and up to date the best I can. I expect to have a prototype unit sometime soon that I'll test thoroughly and get you all the nuts and bolts of it in great detail. Till then.....dream my young future ZMAX owners.....DREAM !!!! LOLOL
