Boy, do I wish that the derringer had a top cap that covered the lip of the deck, so there'd only be 1 seam.

I got my 1:1 fasttech clone in a couple of days ago. Verified to be 1 piece, or you need to hit it hard enough to damage the metal to decouple the seamless 'top cap'. A wood stick pushed down in and tapped pretty good with a hammer made no difference.

I love this mod.

Put my Marquis clone on top, and they look like they were made for each other. One seam, same material and finish, like a hybrid. Stark, simple, beautiful.

Not to mention, man does it just WORK!

BTW - does anyone find the deep, sharp engraving bother their knuckle? I got so used to firing my nemesis with my pinky knuckle that I tend to use the SMPL that way, but the spring is a good deal stiffer, and after a couple of days that groove trough the middle is murder!

You gotta get the ones with the magnet switch. I haven't tried the spring but mine is magnet and it's a soft throw.

So does anyone have an atty on theirs that pushes the button out so it's not recessed like mine?

Had to take another pic

I have no idea who made it. But I paid 40 bucks for it at a local B&M. So I know its not an authentic.

I paid about $19 shipped and I love it so far, definitely one piece tube and magnet button. I want the black, I hope they 1:1 the material on it because I hear it's like a rubbery type feel.

To continue a previous discussion from another thread, I picked up my SMPL clone within the last week or so. I've been pretty happy with it. One thing that's bugging me is I am now routinely getting a hot button. Not scorching hot, but enough that i can feel it on my fingers. For the most part I'm building in the .23-.4 range, rarely do I go above that.

So has anyone else had this issue, if so what are you doing about it? I hit the switch assembly with some mothers mag, then the negative contact with an eraser to try and rub off some of the build up, but still getting issues.

Been running a Kayfun v4 clone, a derringer clone, and more recently a magma on my smpl mod clone. Kayfun and derringer clone the button is recessed, the magma makes it stick out a bit. It won't fire on its own weight though. I've never owned a mech mod to compare it to, but I love the little thing. Pockets very very well, and with my builds I'm getting a damn good vape. Derringer is built around .3 dual, Magma around .5 and kayfun around .8 both running single coils.

I have not had that issue with any of my four SMPL clones, sorry.

Can you tell us where you got this hot button one? And if it's a spring or magnet switch?

Mine from bestpriceecig has the magnets and I've been running it 0.3-0.4 ohms no hot button.

Have you taken the button apart? Sometimes the spring with get nasty and need cleaning. Just cleaned my copper SMPL today. I take the button apart weekly to clean every piece of the button inside and out. Hot soapy water and an old toothbrush work great :)
Hope this helps with the problem

The buttons are brass right? Is rubbing alcohol OK to clean them with too?

It is an infinite SMPL clone, which i believe is a 1:1. Spring loaded. Hot button is either due to the spring itself, or build up of oxidation in the switch assembly. I routinely run builds at .24ish-.4 ohms on samsungs and LGs. I did a quick wipe down of the switch and threads and pulled off some oxidation with a rag that has some mothers mag residue on it. I'll need to pick up some iso alcohol and Qtips tomorrow to really clean it up. I have to note, that hot switches seem to be a recurring problem for me. I even get it occasionally in my JD tech stingray if i havent cleaned everything in a over a week.

You didn't answer the question in the other thread either, so I guess you haven't taken it apart. It's mandatory to own a mech. Like owning a car... If you can't change your own oil, pay someone to do it or it won't run anymore. Application of an anti-oxidizing grease was recommended, but your switch has to be taken apart in order to do it. Cleaning just the outside of the switch without cleaning the inside is like polishing the hood of your car instead of doing an oil change.
