Hi all,

Going to be picking up a copper clone this week and have to choose between the amod version and the infinite. Are there any benefits of having one over the other?

Many thanks in advance.

There shouldnt be honestly.. Amod's gets rave reviews so thats a for sure. I didnt even know Infinite had a SMPL clone but you can count on the name Infinite as being top notch when it comes to clones as well. If you want a similar authentic, Amod/Wotofo make their own mod thats pretty much their own version of the SMPL called the Phantom. Its almost the exact same mod as the SMPL, only with a neato little phantom face on the fire button instead of the Amod name. Thats actually adjustable in some respects, compared to the SMPL which is just a one piece tube with no options. Phantom's got both a hybrid and regular top cap, delrin insulators for the top caps and the button has a tension adjustment too.. Just food for thought..

The FT unit has a spring loaded, c-clip non-adjustable button. The other one is magnetic adjustable. I have have both and I prefer the sprung c-clip version. With the adjustable button the negative 510 pin/screw comes loose occasionally, and I prefer springs.

Edit.
Wanted to add, SS is the way to go in my opinion. The voltage drop between the SS and copper is negligible, cleaning and polishing copper is a pain.

I have both types and also prefer the c-clip design because of the solid construction (better for current delivery), but If you tighten it down the way a screw is intended to be instead of calling it "adjustable", it won't loosen. I don't care how a manufacturer describes their clone.... A loose screw without at least a jam nut, or some other means to prevent spinning, is just a loose screw, so of course it will come loose.

could anyone direct me on where to get the tobeco clone? or should I go for other clones if anyone could direct me to the right one. possibly one that's 1:1 unlike the wotofo version

been wanting an authentic smpl for awhile and I can't find them anywhere. and the rem version while available seems to have issues with their button

These have the button with the C clip not the screw together button. I have two from 88.

sorry what I meant to say was, is the button the solid one like the original smpl, or is it the one with a dip machined out like on the rem mods?

I was just reading about the EDS SMPL Plus and its Palladium-coated switch. Seems they took the failed REM idea and made it work...? Apparently Palladium can be plated much thicker than Rhodium (as in the REM), has higher oxidation resistance and has a more stable molecular structure. Sounds like touché for EDS. I'm curious if anyone here has one.
