Well Bear, it's hard to tell from your posts that you're enthusiastic about it. Glad to hear it.
I really don't want to belabor this here in Snails, so will try to make this short.
It's complete "serendipity" (man, I loathe that word) that I am in a VERY unique position to play the system. While I'm sure there are others doing the same, it's a very slim sliver of the ACA population. I share the how-to-do it (and my dollar results) with others in hope they ccan manage the same scenario. The truth is I've found nobody else who can do it and every one of those folks ended up in a worse financial situation (re: premiums PLUS deductible PLUS co-pays and co-
insurance).
Moving to single payer is going to be a HUGE battle and one that will take decades to accomplish. We're talking multi-billion dollar industries (
insurance companies, medical supply manufacturers and health care providers) who will fight with every fiber to keep it from happening. Too much at stake. So, with that, paying more now for something that is not guaranteed/promised by "X" date is something I am unable to get behind.
Yes... I made out and am happy about it. Still, in my gut, I wish things were just left alone. Guess I'm just a status quo type person. Predictability and stability have a very real value to me. That's why I'm in the same home since '77... I partner for the LONG haul... I schedule and plan in advance and am NOT at all spontaneous.
