bear, no requirements here either for stove brackets but not a bad idea ;)

If I've had no occasion to use them in 59 years and 2 months, chances are I'll never
need them.

Just TRY using that logic with Hus... who came home with a tap and die set a couple
weeks ago. We have NEVER had to die OR tap ANYTHING... but "you never know".

THAT is why we will never move.

And speaking of "moving"...

... a friend's brand new house is just about ready to occupy. I think the Certificate of
Occupancy will be issued next week or the week after.

Whatever... I'm having a REALLY hard time being "excited" for him. I just do not
understand the "why" for the whole thing. IT'S NOT MY PLACE TO UNDERSTAND "WHY",
I know that. <<< Read and comprehend that sentence. But he has a STUNNING condo
or townhouse or whatever you want to call it, just SECONDS away from ALL the amenities
you would ever need or want.

I have often mentioned to him that if he were to ever move, I could be interested in
buying it. But then we chatted about the taxes (almost 2.5x what I pay now), and
the monthly "association fee", and the association's right to zap you with surprise one-
time bills for major improvements (siding, roof, etc.). And it would add 30 minutes to
Hus' daily commute, one-way.

I've been kept in the loop via pics on the progress of the new house. It will have state-
of-the-art EVERYTHING and ALL the latest technologies. Solar, geothermal, even an
ELEVATOR/LIFT to navigate the three floors.

It's situated on a hill that overlooks Canandaigua Lake (AMAZING view) and just SCREAMS
for ANY kind of outdoor living space... but NO, NOTHING to take advantage of the view.
"No plans" to add anything, either. And THAT, I cannot understand at all. It BOGGLES me.

This thing is easily, EASILY, setting him back $600K... no doubt. It's about 17 miles from
ANY kind of notable amenity. And I wish(ed) him luck in getting up that driveway November-
to-March (as for down, leave it to gravity and ice).

Not mine to understand... but I just do NOT "get it". :: shrug ::

Bear...IDK.
Lake views are often out the BACK of the house. Sliders, windows, outdoor "porches" and the like. Depends on road/driveway/lot arrangement. Hope he gets a plow-truck or ===> tractor with plow. Needs a utility "shed" or big-azz garage.

Of course, gates are nice. So are motes. And crocodiles/Piranha. But I digress. :p

Good morning Lost and Gracie

Great news, Lost! Continuing to send good thoughts.

Bear, I don't get it either. I'm ok with the idea of moving a little way out...sorta (since i like being 3 miles from everything) . But building on a lake without taking advantage of being on a lake doesn't make much sense to me either.

It's not actually "on" the lake... he says it's about 3/4 mile from the shore. There's a road and
other properties between him and the water. But it's quite elevated.

It's rare for a house to have the back being what folks see as they drive by. Isn't it? IDK... if
it was me and spending that kind of money, I'd want people to oooh and ahhh.

The interior WILL be eye-popping, I'll say that much.

I have seen lake houses where the front is to the lake...but you say it's not really a lake house. IN a perfect world i'd want the fron to face people and be eye-catching and inviting, and the view from the back to look gorgeous.

Oh, as long as he's happy and it suits him, then i'll try to curb my jealousy ;)

I admit to being septic-system-ignorant... but isn't THIS a bit large for a 1-person household?
He must do a lot of pooping.
