(And, obviously, a squirrel got into the one on the right, cover askew.)
Like this, from Winter:

Bear, those squirrels are clever creatures........I've stopped using sunflower seeds, and am now using safflower seeds and the squirrels find it sour, but the birds like it.
Haven't seen a squirrel near the bird feeder in the back garden since we started using it, so intend to implement it in the other feeders too!

They shimmy right up the shepherd hook pole and get into the feeder.

I thought about coating the pole with AstroGlide (since the bottle is getting all dusty
and cob-webby anyway), but it's water soluble... so that would not work after a rain.
Now thinking about Crisco (since it, too, is getting dusty and cob-webby).

Your grass is beautiful. What's your secret?

Lots of water. Rain or sprinklers. (Cue @CES)
Lawn service for fertilizing, herbicides and pesticides.
Topsoil and seed for patching problem areas.

But it NEEDS a cutting.

Oh and... mower set to 3" or 3.5"". Cutting too short is bad bad bad, especially in dry times.
Longer grass protects itself.

I like the part about the lawn service. Any particular company or is it a local one? My yard looks wretched.

Are ANY of them national?

I used "Chemlawn" (aka "Tru-Green") for quite a while. Then, they really screwed up the
lawn with the fertilizer one time (WAY over-applied) and refused to come back and make
things right. (I'll find a pic.) Destroyed large patches, burnt to hell.

Now use "One-Step".

Actually, we have Chemlawn here too. I'm not sure I've heard of One-Step. All I need is someone to start the process for me. I don't have the equipment needed to aerate and seed.

Yes, aeration. I have it done every Spring and then overseed it myself. THEY use broadcast
spreaders which just fling seed EVERYWHERE. And if you have gardens, the seed ends up in
those and you spend YEARS getting it out. I learned the hard way. You can get a drop-
spreader fairly cheap at any big-box place. Do NOT get a broadcast spreader unless you have
ONLY lawn.

My problem, at the moment, is having somewhere to store that type of equipment.
