Now that I'm thinking about it, it's only the bottom cabinets, so if it's lack of insulation in the walls, wouldn't the top cabinets be cold too?
Uhmmm that depends on the house.
In the "real old days" they barely insulated. Heating costs were cheap, particularly in warmer climates (forgot where you are again, kinda South, right?).
It all depends. On who built it, when, and how much they spent.
I know that's not much help. But times and practices change.
I suppose it's possible there's no wallboard sealing behind the cabinets too. I can't tell Lost. No way for me to check stuff out. Sorry.
