The bottom ones (like under the sink and behind the dish washer) are the areas that have the pipes running behind the walls...like vent stack and stuff... sometimes the water pipes and/or drain depends........ ;)

And the pipes go DOWN too...like to a cold basement area or whatever......

Uhmmm that depends on the house.

In the "real old days" they barely insulated. Heating costs were cheap, particularly in warmer climates (forgot where you are again, kinda South, right?).

It all depends. On who built it, when, and how much they spent.

I know that's not much help. But times and practices change.

I'm in VA. I believe the house was built in 1980, which I don't consider the "real old" days. :laugh:
