Hi Tweety,

Oh no! That would break my heart too! I love my hummers! Love all the birds, but the hummers are especially dear to me.

The squirrels are giving us a run for our money again........so, we put Vaseline on the suet pole, but we sometimes forget to put more on......so now, am going to get some safflower seeds which the squirrels do not like, but the birds do.

I know it sounds silly, but we've watched our hummers build their nest and raise their youngs for ever--they make their nest at the same palm tree frond on our front porch. And we always watched the young ones' first flight...

Until two years ago, when the little ones didn't make it. We watched the frenzied mama hummer trying to feed the unresponsive fledglings for days........

No more.
