When you replace valves always try to get the ball valve type the cost a few more bucks but are worth it,valves need to be cycled a few times a year especially your main shutoff that way it will work when needed,washer hoses should be replaced before they burst I personally like the braided ss ones they last longer

another maintenance chore to add to the to-do list!

I guess some people (glare) go around and cycle all valves once per year. Me? Nope.

As far as hoses...yeah, but I was betting the washer would fail before the hose...and it's time for a new washer anyway (once $$$ are available). I would have replaced the hoses then. At least I won't need to get a hose-kit with a new washer now.
P.S. It was a ball-valve.
New one (brass) was over 14.00.
