I don't think we realize how many types of foods contain sugars. This could be part of my problem. I have MS fatigue, too, but it was never this bad. Think I may see a nutritionist. Thanks, Atty. I know my one med ALSO makes me tired, so I have a triple whammy going!

You should see your PCP about it and get some blood panels run or something. They kind if "hate" the "I'm tired" thing, because they hear it all the time and it's too general, but they should know about it and also should get some blood-work done. None of that can be done by your nutritionist. The thing here is to watch out that insurance pays, and/or that the panels aren't too expensive (normal blood panels aren't bad).Hard to argue that one. I canceled my PCP appointment for last Friday for that reason!! Plus, I really had no need to see him. So why take the chance?
Yeah, that can happen. But if you would have CALLED in like I told you back when it was "new" they would have given you some anti-virals from the pharmacy. But like I said, they're only "meh" effective.so i can pick up another strain?
morning, stone!![]()
Me too....near quarantine around here lately. But no flu either.Valid point, Tibs!
I've postponed my visit to get my hair cut for the same reason. When I have to go to the store, have been using their sanitizing wipes they have available for the shopping baskets.

+1 recommending Tibs consider a DR visit...too much bad news about the dangerous flu these days...just sayin'
Forecast is heavy rain all day today. Luckily, we're above freezing.
Have a good Sunday!
Good morning GracieValid point, Tibs!

I should have assumed you'd have done that already.Good morning Atty
Have had just about every test possible done, Atty. They keep saying it's my MS, combined with anti anxiety med, AND the anxiety ITSELF!!! And I get tons of blood work done about twice a year. My pcp doesn't "hate" the "I'm tired" thing, he really wishes he could help. I've been struggling with fatigue for years. This isn't new, just more and more profound. But I DO know there is too much sugar in my diet, hence a nutritionist can help me sort that out. You should know me well enough by now to know that I don't just sit and do nothing when I don't feel well. I'm proactive in ALL aspects of my health, thanks to years and years of having MS.![]()
I should have assumed you'd have done that already.
I switched off soda and mostly use soda-stream water now. Still some soda, but much less, and tapering off. And Mediterranean diet too (well, theoretically). More veggies and good fats, moderate carbs and less red meat (theoretically). I have challenges in either finding ingredients or in the "liking" of foods particularly when cooking for others.
But veggies. Eat more veggies, and greens. Moderation in portions, etc. You know the drill I'm sure.
For example, last night I used lean ground beef to make gyros, even with tzatziki sauce (yogurt and sour cream base, with other stuff including cucumber). Full of good gut-bacteria too. I do that with chicken too. And I LOVE rice pilaf, but eat it in moderation as a side dish (I often throw remainders out,)
I've eaten low carb for many years. I have a seizure disorder and, for me, sugar is toxic so do stay away from it as much as possible. Reading labels has become second nature to me and all of the forms of sugar that end in 'ose', I avoid. I do eat starchy carbs such as sweet potatoes but no white potatoes.I'm proud of you, as it's NOT easy to do. They say that once you get used to not having sugar, you won't miss it. I do eat lots of veggies, and not a lot of red meat, but carbs are another story. I just think a nutritionist can help me see it all better, and then I can eat better, cause I haven't done a good job of trying all on my own....![]()
You could try Kosher recipes too if you have a good source of them (). That's middle-eastern food, and the modern Israeli versions actually incorporate (copy, clone, customize, steal, etc) a lot of surrounding area foods. But with the internet, we browsers don't have to limit ourselves at all. The world's recipes are at our fingertips.
I alternate between Kosher, Mediterranean, American, Mexican, Indian, Italian, and all the "Am-" versions of those, along with some Asian foods. And "American" food too...so mostly things that are "bad for ya"...sub sandwiches seem to be a weakness for some reason. And some bacon and sausage and seems like lots of eggs. But occasionally a pot roast, or other things. Just got a deal on "Buy 2 get 3 free" Bob Evans ---3 regular and 2 Italian in the freezer!.
Beef prices suck so much that many traditional dishes are less frequent...and unfortunately ground meat is substituted too often due to price. That said, roast chicken, chicken breasts are great. And I've cut down on pork except for breakfast meat for some reason. I should eat more fish but there's "complications" in that regard.
Proactive medicine is good. Also proactive cooking. There's really so many dishes for variety.
but even chicken these days has gotten gross
Like breasts...omg ! the size of them and they are so rubbery.
(no wise cracks)
The tiredness with the MS...HATE it...And when you switch flips and you have a crash...just UGH !!!!
It's like Green Light then Red Light.
I have to force myself to remember to grab the D3 and the Bs - I really need to keepat them daily.
I thought it was my cooking....but even chicken these days has gotten gross
I thought it was my cooking....
Yeah, I agree. I think the chickens are "older" these days, it's hard to find a young fryer for example. The other problem I have is I tend to buy in bulk pack (like 5 breasts) and then freeze them. Frozen meat is never the same as fresh.
Simmering for a while helps if the dish supports it. Also tenderizing/brining techniques.
