I mean physically write, as in using a pencil or pen....but I get your drift...
LOL.
Kinda funny story.

I decided to back up my password manager. Hadn't backed it up since Feb. And Bear's crisis reminded me.
Anyway, I went to back up the password database (that is auto-opened at login) and back it up. The backup process asks for a password!!!!!!!

Yikes! What was it...think...try...think...try.
No luck.

So I went and opened the envelope where I keep the WRITTEN DOWN password to the password manager. Well I tried it and IT DID NOT WORK!!!:shock::shock::shock:

So I was about to copy all the stuff down that I could SEE, but had no print option for and no way to backup/export. But then I just decided to try the "change password" function. The written-down password WORKED for that one, so I was able to change the password. Once I did that, the export worked too. :w00t::w00t::w00t::w00t:

So sometimes, the STUPID SOFTWARE doesn't work right even if you have the correct password written down!!!!!!
:p

Stupid software (unnamed)

You can put your PWs in a file... but PRINT IT every time you
make a change.

This file I'm (still) downloading is supposed to get me to a
menu where I can choose a restore point.

:/

I know you can get to that through some F-key on bootup.
I've tried 3, 5 8 and 12. Lots of other stuff, but no restore
point. Maybe a change in Win10.

Probably best to be nurse-maided by a tech support person.

"2 hours remaining".

That reminds me of last week where it took 4.5 hours to
DL the Win10 software.

Man... I hate this tablet.

I keep all my WRITTEN pwords in an index file hidden away so hubby and I are the only ones able to access.
Now, if a p/w changes, I simply cross the old one out, and WRITE the new one.....this method has worked for me since Day 1......printing, meh!

Nutshell:

MS tech support, not much help except to wipe the disk clean.

Took box to a local geek place... pulling all data files off the HD (I have
99% opf them on external anyway... but I NEED that 1%). Then reverting
to Win7.

ETA to have it back, Friday latest... probably Thursday.

:(

See you all once I'm back up and running. Wave!
