Ugh. "Dad Tuesday" this week because of his post-pacemaker-and-wires replacement follow-up.
It's to check the site for healing and to do a few readings of the new equipment. But he plans
to express his displeasure at "the work". The original pacemaker and his first replacement were
virtually undetectable (except for the incision scar). THIS one must be pretty close to the skin
surface because you can see the outline of the pacemaker.

One part of me wants to say that his chest appearance isn't really an issue at 89 years old. BUT,
I also see his point. Not sure what can be done about it now, except to go back under the knife.
Unless the placement is causing a potential health problem, I'm thinking it would be deemed
cosmetic and not covered by insurance.

We'll find out. I guess. Oh boy.

..........

GOOD MORNING to all those who made it this far in the post! :)

@SilverBear , tell your dad it probably is what is - dh also has the stimulator implanted in chest cavity and showing. surgeon says there's only one way and the less muscles on top the more it'll show; skin thickness also decreases with age ....
Yes, I get the age thing and change in body stuff. The previous pacemaker was in what they
call a pocket (or something). I guess I would have expected the new one to just take the place
of the old. (But I did not spend 8+ years in med school, right?)

i'm sure they utilized the same pocket - that's what happens with dh's which gets replaced every 3 to 4 years - but the gadget might also have changed in size. curious to see what happened when you report back ;)

When I used to work at the bank would drive down a street that had a school.
There were a ton of peacocks in the area.
They would group up and go down to the crossing guard and wait there for him to stop the traffic so they could cross the street.

    Cute as heck !
