Good morning Fran and Pepper :)

Looks huge Pepper!
Pepper is going to restrain himself.

I had to bring out the tape measure and see if it would fit on my desk with my other stuff. It works. I'm still elated I was able to repair my computer. I'm sure if I had brought it to a repair shop it would have ran into the hundreds of dollars. I did it for $26.00.

Have a great day.

I had Christmas dinner in Rome (Trastevere section--my favorite). I walked here from my airbnb--about 1.2 miles. It was about 5pm and temperature was about 55 degrees. Very comfortable with a light jacket or sweater--especially with the propane heaters.

The atmosphere and spirit were beautiful. Everyone was of good cheer. One of the most enjoyable meals I've ever had in Rome--and that's saying a lot.

Here's a pic from my table. With a bottle Chianti wine and fresh baked focaccia with olive oil and rosemary. It was delicious.

Dinner was ox tail in a tomato sauce with mashed potatoes and salad. It was divine. I wish I had cut into it to show the meat before i took the pic.

For desert I had cheesecake with berries and a Americano to wash it down.

    Good morning Terri :)

No, I wasn't. LOL Everyone there was my companion, including the staff. I had a ball with everyone around me. I'm an extrovert--you people should know that. I have an incredible time regardless if I'm with people I know or not. Truthfully, it's just the way it worked out this Christmas. I wanted to attend Christmas Eve Mass at St. Peter's Basilica and things fell into place to make it happen. But thanks for your thought.

p.s. Off to the gym. And I bought the computer monitor I featured earlier. Who needs Atty's help anyway.

Atty, I think I have found the one.:?: It's regularly $800 and on sale for $449 with 0% financing for 1 or 2 years at Samsung.com If u have time, look at the video and tell me what u think. I'm probably going to get it. I'm just looking for some positive reinforcement telling me I'm doing the right thing before i pull the trigger. It has speakers which I could care less about as I have my own. I also didn't want a monitor with a camera built in--can't have people spying on The Pepper™.

I have no problem with it conceptually. Looks like a good group of features! The negative reviews on Amazon concerned me a bit, but if you get a good one you'll be OK. You know how the internet is! I mean, I saw this one too (with a $90.00 off coupon!)...

240 hertz, fewer ports on the back, mixed reviews. I think most monitors these days are hit-and-miss in terms of things like bad pixels.

I'm no expert. And my current monitor is low end...no HDR, 1920x1080, no-frills. TO ME having the HDR is worthwhile for color range. That and I think that freesync is nice too. I don't need more than 60 fps, but some monitors have "blurring" with latency, so the faster the monitor the better/less the problem.

So go for it if it makes you happy.

I wouldn't classify it as making me happy. What would have made me happy is for my current monitor to keep working. It's a Samsung that I bought when I got this system. It's 7 years old, so I would say I got my money out of it.

I've had good luck with Samsung, especially tv's--and with this monitor for 7 years.

I read and watched enough reviews. The written ones from anonymous people who cant write a complete sentence I tend to ignore. The professional reviews were decent as evidenced by the video review i posted here. it comes with a one year warranty. I haven't decided whether I'm going to add to it. I usually don't get extended warranties on electronics or anything that cost under $500 dollars--it usually doesn't pay to do so.

    thanks.:)

    p.s. I wonder what Tibby would think?

I can't remember exactly what I have posted here in reference to my trip. I think i shared several pictures of St. Peter's Basilica with the Christmas tree and nativity scene on Christmas Eve, but I didn't post any pics of the service inside. So, I'll post a few if you care you look.;)

Several pics from outside waiting to go into St. Peter's Basilica for Christmas Eve Mass.

Pics before and during mass. I got about 1/2 way up to the front but with an outside seat from the aisle. I found out the place to be was the aisle as different processions involved in the service came up the aisle and that was the best vantage point to see and take pics.

And here's a pic of the program sitting on my lap in my "holy" jeans. It was mostly written in Italian. But we were all Italians that evening. I thought this was going to be a once in a lifetime thing for me, but I have to do it again. I now know a few of the secrets to making it a better experience that one can only learn through doing it. We'll see if it is this coming Christmas.:)
