You'd better like it at those prices! Hokey Toot! Hope locals get a discount.

However, I've always been impressed that the sandwich didn't shrink, just the price when up. Still about a pound of meet in a full sandwich! (well, IDK the real amount, but wow).

I understand why the good pastrami is expensive though. Lots of work. Beef is expensive. Looks good.
Locals don't get a discount :( But I don't eat Katz's every day. The family, though, is hooked so it's my once-a-year extravagance for them...kind of like buying caviar or lobster for a special occasion. :)

Good night Tibs.

It used to be a 1/2 lb. But Mayor Bloomberg may have downsized it. :p

ETA--I looked it up--10-12 oz of pastrami per sandwich....

Good night Tibs.

Katz's deli is where the famous (or infamous) dinner scene from "When Harry met Sally" was shot, BTW. It was Estelle Reiner, director Rob Reiner's mother, who delivered the line, "I'll have what she's having." ;)

Sweet dreams, Snails!

Agreed.

Also, best bagels and bialys--H&H Bagels.

Best deli--Zabar's, just across the street from H&H.

Best sturgeon and lox--Barney Greengrass.

Oh, I miss New York... I don't miss the cost of living there. ;)
H & H is gone, sorry :(
My "favorite" places for things for such things change from time to time. When I first moved to NY, it took me at least 2 years to adjust to going to a "bagel store" for bagels, a "cheese store" for cheese, a "wine store" for wine (but not liquor)...it seems most of the country was just getting into mega-marts. I'm now perfectly happy going to all of the specialty shops and it makes me sad when they close. It's not the most convenient or efficient way to shop, but it might be the best way to shop.

Yes, I know :) It's weird to recognize many of the places I've been in the movies...and even worse to see the ones that have closed. One was McHale's Bar where we used to have a drink after work. I remember we used to get mad when they would close the place for filming and we couldn't get a drink and a killer cheeseburger.

Oops....and good night Katya :)

Found this for you...the first 3 articles are a pretty good short summary of what happened.

I think you'll be okay...you've probably moved on to "California Cuisine" by now. Ya know, stuff like avocados and BBQ chicken on your pizza
I've been to CPK, I know what those California people eat! :D)
