Yes, US law prohibits importation of products containing Cuban tobacco. Most suppliers will not ship the two products containing Cuban tobacco to the USA (Northerner definitely complies and deleted those products from my order) but I do know there is a vendor that ignores the prohibition on sending those products to the US. I understand such a shipment may or may not get confiscated coming through customs. I don't care to mention the name of this business in a public forum; it is one of the smaller and more obscure ones. I don't know if there are also others.

And in related news, today Mr. .... DuMass Jr, an official spokestwit for the Noble Citizen's Campaign to Rid the Earth of Pleasure for the Sake of the Kids, called for an urgent federal crusade to eradicate the sudden epidemic of crazed Floridian snus fiends, citing the alarming drain on the entire Southern Atlantic and Gulf Coast power grid from the recent surge in refrigerator use by Sunshine State snusers.

LMAO... well written.... Is this for real though? (If so do you have the link to the actual story?) If "the man" tries getting his grimy hands on snus then I'm going to be ..........

I am convincved that Tropical Bob is way more addicted to nicotine than I. Perhaps more than any person I have ever met (or not met) in my life.

Vaping more than satisfies my oral, psychological and chemical needs to keep me off analogs. For yucks, in the past, I have done cigars, imported analogs, snuff, hookahs and pipes. All were a passing phase since my core addiction was analogs; Newports to be specific.

My recommendation to anyone reading this thread is to focus on a single analog reduction/elimination scheme. Aside from vaping, most other alternatives still involve tobacco.

Linkav7, I'll had success getting both Montecristo and Romeo y Julieta snus through the embargo, but they just aren't worth it to me. Yes, they use Cuban tobacco. But .. they are more expensive than other snus, without appreciable pleasure differences.

I've always had success with the Romeo y Julieta Senorita dry mini. Not sure if it has Cuban tobacco or not, but it has always been delivered when ordered. Very nice medium to low strength snus portion.

Mohave, cheers on the new U.S. Northerner warehouse. I looked at the Web site, though, and it's only General products. While I always get some General, I want other stuff too, so I think the bulk of my orders will still ship from Sweden.

This does, however, establish General warehousing in the U.S., which might figure in things when the FDA gets power over tobacco and starts nosing around snus and snuff. As best I read the FDA bill in Congress, though, General introduced snus too late in the U.S. (last year) and won't be grandfathered in. So it will face scrutiny as a "new" product, as will Camel snus and Camel dissolvables. Star Scientific with Ariva and Stonewall should be okay. The others will likely be denied approvals.

There seems to be a very strong prevailing assumption here that anyone who uses any of these things does so to quit smoking. In fact at times it seems to have some distinctly cultish aspects. Is that a requirement? It happens that I'm not trying to quit anything. I'd rather be staked to an anthill. Like many millions of people for generations, I happen to like doing some of these things, and if I can't use tobacco I'd really rather not bother getting old anyways. I'm cranky enough already. Just wondering out loud. Mmmmmkay?

Yes, and only a small selection of General at that (no Extra Stark or Onyx) but I think their intention is to expand the inventory as they get it running.

My understanding is that Camel Snus (in another flavor) were on the market as early as 2006. But I could be mistaken. I am very concerned about whether Swedish products will qualify under the FDA related legislation. Not clear to me what standard one might have to meet. The date is clear, but what really qualifies as existing in the marketplace for imported products? Does it really need to have been a brick and mortar point of sale? I dunno. There may be potential treaty (World Trade Organization) implications involved.

Mohave, I'll be accused of being "doom and gloom" but I too fear for Swedish snus once the FDA takes over tobacco control under that bill. You know, of course, that the EU banned snus in all member countries but Sweden. Snus had a long history, but it was banned nonetheless. I don't think the FDA will blink an eye in calling Swedish snus a new tobacco product for the U.S. and demanding approval -- which won't be given, if most guesses are correct. Maybe it depends on how big a snus player Altria becomes, since PM is calling all the shots on this one.

What's for sure is that all Big Tobacco companies want in on the snus action as cigarette sales decline. Big fight coming...

Well, I'm right behind you in the gloomy merchant of doom camp. I'm about to stockpile a fortified cave with survival crackers and ammo to await the impending demise of the civilized world, once I figure out how to preserve the 27,325,816 rolls of snus I have on backorder...

I sure wish I could use their alleged snus product without gagging, since it's so easily available. Saw it in Wal-Mart for $0.69. Really.

I wonder if anybody knows anything about this American snus:

American Snus Tobacco Company
Discreet Snus - Tobacco Products

Anyone tried it or know where to get it?

I found it buried in the middle of a Fred Stoker & Sons mail order catalog. Stoker & Sons' catalog is mostly about pipe tobacco, cigars, roll-your-own, chewing tobacco, and it isn't online so far as I'm aware. The catalog is available by calling them at 1-800-243-9377.

And the involvement of non-combusted tobacco is bad because....?

I've got a question for Snus users... So one of the reasons I moved to E-Cigarettes was so that I could get my nic fix before seeing my girlfriend without tasting like an ashtray. I was wondering, does Snus offend your partners when you kiss them (in regards to taste)? From what I've read online, it looks like loose tobacco certainly does, but the portioned + dry snus don't. What are you experiences?

I apologize if this has been posted here already, but this thread is 30 pages long and my work internet is way to slow to look through all the pages :p. Thanks!

I would never think of kissing anyone while using or after using loose snus. Yuck. It's not called "mud mouth" for nothing. Portions are another matter. A General Mint portion works much like a breath mint. There are cinnamon flavors now that freshen breath. An Energy portion has tooth whitening material! You'll pretty much know from the flavor what it will do to your breath and mouth. The stronger the tobacco taste, the worse your partner's reaction is likely to be. Use white minis in tasty flavors if you expect an evening to end in an embrace.

I see... Thanks very much for the insight! I've been reading through this thread, and I'm learning a lot from your posts.

I think I may make an order for a couple tins just to test the waters. I'm looking at the "Catch Dry Eucalyptus Mini" that someone here suggested and a "Catch Chill Mint Vanilla," each from "Northerner."

I've only been into smokeless nicotine products for a couple weeks, but it's all really neat.

RE: "Discreet" & "Pro" brand snus

Learned a little more about this from a link to an article in Smokeshop Magazine I picked up on another forum: SMOKESHOP 08/08 - Making a Compelling Case for Snus Use

Also learned they are about the same size by weight (0.4g) as a Swedish mini-portion, or about half a Swedish regular portion. Camel snus is supposed to be about 0.6g I understand. Doesn't tell you the nicotine content, other things can cause that to vary of course, but maybe gives a basis to guess.

Hey Guys excuse my laziness but i read about 3 pages off this thread and decided to bite the bullet, i am sure most of the pages i did not read will suggest different brands / types of snuss but really all i am interested in knowing is..

Is this a good place to start? snus, purified, white mini portion, mini portion, portion snus, loose, swedish snus, tobacco, general, wise, roda lacket, goteborgs rape, ettan I was thinking of ordering the box in the middle, do you guys think this is the best choice to go for?

Also when i order the snus i am considering getting one of these too as they look fun lol http://www.swedish-snus.com/snus/Toque-347/Espresso Mini Bullet, Toque-5289/ I would value an experienced opinion on both the snuss and the snuff.

Cheers Guys Lee.
