Medication Initiative for Tobacco Dependence (MITD): A New Product Development Partnership (PDP)(UH2/UH3)

The National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) invites cooperative agreement applications from qualified non-profit, private and academic researchers/organizations to participate in the planning and execution of a new public-private partnership (PPP). The purpose of a one-year planning phase (UH2) is to provide support for the systematic study directed toward fuller scientific understanding of the opportunities in the area of drug discovery and development for tobacco dependence, with the ultimate goal of establishing a PPP, specifically, a Product Development Partnership (PDP). The mission of the PDP is to develop safe and effective medications for the treatment of tobacco dependence, including aids for smoking cessation. Phase two (UH3) funding will be utilized to support the implementation and execution phase of the PDP, with one selected cooperative agreement recipient assuming the role of the PDPs Managing Partner. In this subsequent phase, the PDP will conduct a wide array of research and development (R&D) projects aimed at the fulfillment of regulatory requirements for approval for marketing in the US.

Current Closing Date for Applications: Apr 26, 2011

I wonder if that would have been an opportunity to develop the WTA liquid.

Hey Sandy, I read from a posting on this thread that some of the tribulus tinctures sold in health food stores had the MAOIs removed. I called quite a few online retailers including Herbal Remedies for a inquiry on the matter and had zero responses. However in the next few weeks I'm heading to India where the tribulus root is plentiful and available everywhere so I'll let you know when I find a tincture with the MAOIs left intact.

Thanks Barney, I got the tincture and it tastes terrible. I haven't tried it again. I've been using snus and it works pretty good.

I don't understand it myself. I read Kin as an idealist, but one who tends toward negativism when frustrated by circumstances or disparate opinions. It's a mentality that historically makes for revolutionary progress, but can become bogged down in the impatience of waiting for the revolution to be realized. I guess it's a loss for the forum that the thread is gone, but Kin doesn't give up. If he finds some similar minds, expect him to be at the front making the future happen.

I'm not sure what happened, but it seemed like the thread shutdown was caused by Kin's frustration that others were not actively experimenting but were rather waiting around until a process was finalized so they could use it. I know that's what I was doing. I'm not a chemist or an experimenter in that arena. "Watchers" weren't playing by his rules so he took his ball home.

Well, there's the impatient part of the equation. I had a hard time with simultaneously trying to explain things while being told how I should be doing things.. didn't work for me.

Your WTA liquid was superb, DVap, but lately I've been using a Ploom in addition to my battery-powered e-smoking. I refill used Ploom pods with coarse nasal snuff, then moisten with e-liquid in a flavor of my choice.

This is WTA vapor!

It's not some concoction with nicotine added; it's moistened tobacco turned into vapor! The Ploom cannot replace all the e-smoking stuff I now own and use, but nothing matches the nicotine hit from the Ploom. Of course, I can control some of that that by choosing e-liquid of a known strength. But I can say that even pure vegetable glycerine works and produces a strong throat hit and high nic dose.

    Somewhere between here and there
TB I looked at those but wasn't sure exactly how they worked. Is it kind of like a miniature hooka. You sure have my curiosity peaked. I might like to try one of those. I wonder what the safety level is since it uses tobacco? That might be the solution for me as what to do with the ten lifetime supply of snuff I have.

I could be wrong but it appears to work much like this

VaporGenie - the world's first Vaporizing Pipe!

There are other vaporizers that use butane. It can be used for tobacco and...... other herbs. The only real difference is that the Ploom comes with some prepackaged tobacco and the mouthpiece draws differently so that you can use the small cartridges as opposed to whole tobacco. This looks like a variation of an..... herbal..... vaporizer.

    I'd like to try this

I'd just like to say how great it is to see DVap (and TB, of course!) back contributing to this thread. Any word from Exogenesis lately?

Having once upon a time spent many, many hours in ECF trying to educate myself about vaping, I no longer spend anything like as much time here and also try to restrict that to following links to the topic which caught my interest to start with rather than following dozens of little diversions and ending up forgetting what I was trying to find out in the first place!

Speaking of which (forgetting, that is) despite having having read every word of this thread at least once, I really can't recall just what the status was regarding any possibility of there ever being commercially-available WTA at any point in the future. As in, IS there any such possibility?
