And something some of you have been waiting for:
A simplified WTA extraction... coming soon.
The main safety concern with this procedure will be flammability. Expect a list of warnings half a mile long, along with me trying to anticipate every hair-brained shortcut someone might try to take along with an explanation of why trying to take these shortcuts qualifies someone as an idiot. If you're too much of a rebel to follow some prudent safety recommendations, don't even think about doing it.
You'll be entirely responsible for the outcome, I'll cover my ... with disclaimers and warnings until you're sick of reading them.
Compared to the highly technical WTA extraction I've been doing, this one is much simplified, but it still involves a bit of detailed work. As far as cleanliness of the WTA produced, you should expect considerably less tobacco gunk than with the current procedures being discussed, but it will be nowhere near as clean as the more technical WTA extraction. Consider it to be "in between" the two.
Also, since I've designed it to work AS WRITTEN, don't expect a lot of assistance from me in helping you substitute materials or procedures. If you're not prepared to do what I say exactly how I say to do it, you're on your own.
Since most of you won't have the means to test the final WTA liquid for alkaloid concentration, it will be important for you to use exactly the tobacco I specify. This will be the 100% organic Natural American Spirit (red label). This stuff can be bought in 40 gram pouches for 8 or 9 dollars. The solvent you'll need will run you a lot, and you might have trouble getting it. I've found it on Froogle at $70 for a liter. This might sound like a lot, but each WTA extraction should only require about 50 mL, so a liter will be good for 20 extractions, or only a few dollars per extraction. Yes, you will be able to find cheaper grades of this solvent, and no, I will not support or recommend substituting a cheaper grade than I specify. See what I mean? I'm already packing in the warnings, and I've not even written out the procedure yet! 8-o
As I envision it, following the procedure exactly and correctly should allow you to produce around 5 mL of 30 mg WTA, or proportionally more of lower WTA concentrations. I'll say this, most folks will not need or be able to handle WTA at 30 mg. Unless you're an inveterate tobacco junkie.. like Bob or Vic... you might want to start at 10 mL of 15 mg WTA.
Anyway, the basic procedure has proven itself to work, and now I need to spend a week or two tweaking it up.
