Yesterday with the Ettan, I had planned a 4hr soak. I watched it pretty close as I agitated it. I cut it off at 2hrs. It was getting darker than I had expected. I just cant see darker being better when vaping it. I might be wrong on that.
That's the way I see it. Likely a lot of trash and little good stuff. No sense in replacing atty's every other vape.

Lots been going on here!

Damnably enjoyable video TB, felt the from-the-heart delivery :)

DVap, glad we'll soon be able to get WTA+ without buying a lab,
or (not-too) specialist process-ingredients. Looking forward to the write-up....

Who said snus were slower to deiver than ciggies????,
tried a few (one at a time) Frosted Thunder full-size, have to take them out afer 1 min,
burning gums & throat, chest restricting, feeling very light headed, a bit scared...
Bloody hell these things are strong!

Vaporer, did you say you need to fridgify snus, othwise they go off after a couple of days?,
if so the 10 cartons I've got won't last, maybe time to join in the snus to e-liquid game...

If you're looking to remove the fine suspended solid gunk, might be worth trying
in-line syringe filters, pretty cheap, e.g. ebay:
10x Watman SYRINGE FILTERS 13mm in 30mm 0.2um PVDF on eBay (end time 30-Dec-09 22:15:26 GMT)

Good work all round guys :), keep it up !

exo,

They say to keep them cooled. The white portions are dry so no one worries abt them.
many just stick the roll in the freezer till they need it.

Might want to ask TBob abt that one to be sure.
I had an original can opened for a week and it was fine and didnt fridge my others till the other day.
No mold or odd smell and I ain't dead yet.
I love that Thunder Frosted......................

Regular (moist) snus need refrigeration. They are safe if carried in your back pocket for a day or two, but don't leave them otherwise unrefrigerated.

Dry snus do not need any refrigeration, but I like 'em cool, so they stay in there along with the wet ones.

ad2: My son went back to cigs, too. I offered him a chance to try everything I own. He wouldn't even consider something like my Screwdriver. He wanted something like a cigarette. Finally took my GreenCig G300 kit, a beautiful thing. I refilled 10 carts for him. Then all of sudden he's back on Pall Malls. I will demand my GreenCig back.

I have said before that despite all the happy bunnies in their rose-colored glasses on this forum, the real success rate for those who buy e-cigs will likely be between 10 and 20 percent. No more. Better than Big Pharma NRT, but far, far, far from perfect.

Part of the blame for failure will be .... something missing.

I think I will have success with my son. He was trying to do it all on a limited budget with a stock 510. He commented many times that he couldn't get the performance he sees me get with the modded rigs. I hope to help get him into something that can produce as well as something to put into it that will be more satisfying.

I agree whole heartedly TB. with you assesment of the e-cig success rate. I think the only reason I made it a month without noticing that I wasn't getting it was the palcebo effect. I thought it would work and so I convinced myself it was. Sooner or later you will look behind that curtain and see the real wizzard. My non-smoker friends don't understand. They told me yesterday that my withdrawal symptoms were being caused by the e-cig.

I may go down in flames but I will go kicking and screeming.

Wonderful thread that has grown into a full-size rope! Please forgive me if this has been mentioned already, has anyone here seen this: BEHOLD: The absolute perfect tobacco flavoring and nicotine extraction method.
It is a thread from the DIY-eliquid sub-forum, and in it 'round about page 6 a gal named Faethe joins in and ends up making a full-on snus glycerite tincture (initially heated VG and snus bags soaked together for 21 days) . From her comments("Sweet Jesus is this strong!" and "This is somewhere north of 36" and "I'm dizzy...") it appears that she has a way to extract WTA and a satisfying amount of nic from the snus(Oden-17 mg.).

Haven't had time to read through this whole, giant, beautiful thread, so again, ignore this if snus tincture has already been discussed.
Thanks

As far as nicotine/alkaloid concentration, it's barely a couple mg/mL at best.

If she enjoys it, that's the important thing.

Aaarrg! Why didn't I think of that? I got a stash of those for water testing....another "V8" moment.... Hmmm, .45um...don't think VG'll get through that....

Sure it will, very slowly though.

Putting snus cartons in fridge now, Frozen Thunder Frosted anyone?

16 mg per portion, use 1 ml of water to extract,
squeeze, use further 1 ml on same snus again.
Then same 2ml to extract next portion etc, say 25% effeciency at getting
alkaloids, then dilute 1/2 with glycerine,
would need 12 snus to get to 4ml of 24 mg/ml + a lot of filtering and
brown gunk in solution.
Would cost about a £ per ml in snus alone.

Away..
I finished making the Grovsnus liquid.
If it tastes bad orally, extracting it and vaping it makes it taste no better! Actually, I think its worse! Where's my bottle of menthol?

I dont know if anyone has tested the actual nic content of a soak. One thing I can say for sure is the thicker the extraction liquid the more loss there is in recovery. On my last 2 tests, using regular portions, one 50/50 PG/VG and the other just nic liquid, expect .5 - 1ml loss per original size portion used. Doesnt matter how you squeeze it. When you do squeeze it, the fine soilds pour out. This forces another filtering and more loss if coffee filters or a cotton plug is used. Just draining has a liquid higher loss.

NAS might be diff, but so far the snus extract has nothing close to that wonderful WTA flavor. The "guilt giver" . lol It tastes like the snus you used. Imagine that.
If one had unflavored nic liquid, you could flavor it, but seems easier to just use the portion and vape at the same time. I'm pretty sure your atty will thank you in the long run.

I posted a few months back abt a lady on youtube cooking snus. Wonder if thats the same person?

Exo, The Thunder Frosted was pretty stout on the first few portions. Got used to it real quick. I did notice it lost alot of the "1st hit impact" near the end. I didnt keep it cool and it took me a week to finish it. I have all mine in the freezer now except the tin I'm using. I've read its good for a yr like that.

Good Morning Exo
If you plan on storing snus in the freezer make sure it is well sealed to prevent undue drying. While a quick spritz of water easily rehydrates, I take the time to wrap the cans I put in the freezer with saran and then they all go into a zip-loc style bag.

Using a zip-loc bag for the ones you may choose to keep in the refrigerator is a prudent method as well.

If one had unflavored nic liquid, you could flavor it, but seems easier to just use the portion and vape at the same time...

I made the same comment to TV last night.

If a simplified process for a safe soak of snus were to require the use of nic liquid, well...

OTD, after round 2 yesterday on soaking and filtering........
I had found a couple I just dont care for the taste of. A few drops of flavoring on the portion works well for me. Let it set for abt 10-15 min before using. Most should surely get through a tin that way so you dont lose the value and just not buy it again.

There may be some that even a mini just isnt comfortable orally, they can extract and vape if they want. It works, seems hard on attys though.

I'm just glad that snusing helps relieve the x factor.
Cant wait to see what that guy DVap knows has for him to post on the WTA method.....lol

BTW, glad to see you put your winter coat on. :)

exo, I remembered something I was told some time ago. If the portion is white, dont worry, everything else gets the fridge, except dry snuff. That seemed pretty simple to me. ;)
Wife doesn't know I will sit, speak, roll over, beg and so on for Thunder Frosted....8-o

Saran? Not a chance. I've had many fights with saran wrap and always lost. Saran...my nemisis....had to have been invented by a woman to bring a man to submission. I mig, tig and stick; I glue, nail and staple, when I get the saran wrap out, it only takes me minutes to give up and concede that a superior female conpiracy has brought me to my knees...8-o
