I once had the local district attorney borrow a small, souvenir baseball bat as a prop for a court case (he was a friend of the family). A lot of the time the guys in the field don't have the budget or the time to get approval to buy something useful to their current task. So, they turn to the community to help them out.

So, the FBI could have been borrowing the equipment to help Federal Courts to make a case banning ecigs.

:) Anything can be twisted in such a way as to turn against vaping or anything for that matter. :)

This thread is fascinating and interesting!

Wow~! FBI.......I would be like......speechless and stuff!

And the second they left, I would have realized that I could have asked a dozen really intelligent questions but didn't.

I hope there will be an update when they bring your stuff back!

oh, and some you watch way too many movies.
*just sayin'*:p

Interesting thread, The OP has hinted there are a number of peices to the story she is not at liberty to discus, or at best is not comfortable discussing online for fear of reprecussions to her or the shop. As a Customs officer we often work closely with the FBI, and I would like to see how this plays out. My impression is that it is purely a local matter, perhaps other shops in the area were visited as well. Too many important peices missing at the moment.

First off, what makes you think that they would tell you the truth about why they were there, I don't think so, they would tell you what ever you wanted to hear or whatever would get you to cooperate. X-ray common, In China town, NYC, I watched the fbi chasing old Asian ladies out of stores for selling knock off purses. I know it's illegal to sell Clone coach bags, and I know that is something that the feds do spend time on busting old ladies. Just saying....

They didn't "raid" anything, there was no commotion, it was three men coming into a store wearing suits, one dude asking questions, there was a transfer of product, there was a badge shown and one of the other dudes talked on a walkie talkie type cell phone. Now if people have the balls to impersonate a team of federal law enforcement officers just to procure some free ecig merch........ They deserve the merch.

It takes three FBI agents to borrow an ecig?

I believe you RocketPunk, that must have been one weird experience. Like to see the Men in Black top that one. :)

Hee hee! Once again my avatar confuses! It's a bit of a long running joke here among the veterans, but....... I'm a dude. Click on my profile and bask in the glory that is my giant, bushy red mustache. :D

my friend just got basically stripped searched at the airport and is 100% convinced that something in his vape setup was setting off their bomb detector. HE flew no issues and started vaping again then bam on the way back is held for a while as they did their thing.

Several years ago I had my home-made setup (RC Racing battery, hand-wired USB passthru) with me in carry on. They stopped me; apparently something about the battery had them worried. I suspect it might have been because there were traces of e-liquid on it, transferred from my hands, but it apparently failed the "sniffer" test.

Has a pleasant conversation with the TSA guy in charge (yes, it was a very pleasant and polite conversation) and after about 20 mins of that they let me go through and take it with me. I wasn't really watching my bags, perhaps they were going through them with a fine-tooth comb or something.

My only guess was that glycerine was the culprit?
