So what other quality items do you own?

A Sthil 046 that has a big bore kit and has been woods ported, and a Dolmar 5100 that has been woods ported. I still have my Husqvarna 350 that's woods ported as well, but I don't really consider it "high end".

I lived in Kansas for a year. Always wondered where all the trees went (sorry couldn't resist).
Just got my Provari on Friday, honestly the only high quality item I got in the last few years unless I can count my kids, but they keep reminding me that I don't own them.

A burberry belt. Well, actually it's a fake, but nice enough, plus I did get it fitted by the shop keeper. Also, it has a story to it, directly to the left of the shop I bought it from there was a cafe that was bombed by al quadea, just a few months after I was there - 2011 Marrakesh bombing - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

...if you bought a Coach bag, you wouldn't have that problem. ;)

I buy quality when I can. Tools, shoes, belts, razors, and luggage, I make sure I own the best I can afford. Ditto for my kitchen knives (Thiers Issard).

I agree with the Kitchen Knives... Mine are nothing to showboat (Zwilling J A Henckels) but man, I used cheap knives for so long, now that I have felt what it's like to use a quality kitchen knife, I will never use garbage again... Sad...

Oh, I have an old Costo butcher block knife set with wooden handles that do a great job smashing tomatoes instead of cutting them. I am too broke from vaping stuff to go look at any knives, but you guys are making me think about them... LOL!

Edit: this isn't that I didn't buy quality but I had no clue what quality knives were at the time. The butcherblock knives looked good to me, and decades later, they are dull as the countertop, but they still look great:). (not a cook...)

I also kinda don't like the way they look (Coach, that is). And the $40 was marked down from $90, so that's a good enough start I think....If that works out, maybe next time I can top the $100 mark....

Ok, so some things I buy quality, and some I don't. Just depends what it is.

Hobbies are dangerous for me too.

I raced for Team Losi in the early 90's. I got on the team after spending over $10K on R/C gear.

I assume you were running JRx2 / JRxPro setups then? I never did like that floating rear link thing they had going... Although I did get spanked regularly by one person in particular who ran a JRx2 using a (Of all manufacturers) Reedy modified "14 Turn" motor... Pretty sure he was running something hotter than a 14 in that thing... He spanked us all... Used to hate that guy, cause I really just did not like the Losi cars... LoL, it was like a Chevy vs Ford type of hate... I'm sure you know what I mean!

You don't have to spend big to get a quality blade... I have a couple of Farberware Pro Forged kitchen knives that I've had for 10+ years that are still excellent knives... As long as you never put them in the dishwasher (hand wash only) they will last a long time. It took some work to get the edge where I wanted it, but they have held that sharp edge as well as my Zwilling knives for a fraction of the price. I guess they are a good "Clone" :D Just don't get that stamped steel crap... Worthless

I raced stadium trucks, so LX-T's. I had a couple Jrx-PRO SE's but was never consistent enough with buggys to compete with them. I got to beta the first generation Hydra-drive(liquid filled clutches). That part alone won me a lot of races before anyone else had liquid clutches. I had a 7-turn single but it was just for fun. Too hot to run in races. Good times :)

Most people would *gasp* and wonder about spending so much on knives. Well, it's a far cry from THIS which is simply art to me and it's only $2,499 ;)

I'm a Dewars guy. Every now and again I'll buy a nice bottle of single malt, and enjoy it, but always think to myself, "Did I like that so much more than Dewars that it was worth the extra 50 bucks or whatever?" And the answer is pretty much no. I guess I should be glad I have a cheap palate.

I've usually have a bottle of Dewars, and a bottle of Pinch at home.

And it last a long time - I just don't drink it often.
In a bar, I'll typically get Dewars.

But actually, I don't see how Laphroaig or Balevenie is even in the same beverage class as Dewars - it's SO different!!

Speaking of scotch, I enjoy Laphroaig single malt. It's funny because I refuse to spend a ton on beer due to the fact that I would drink myself into the poor house if I did, but I don't mind spending $50 to 100 on a decent scotch.

I will spend the money on beer. Being stationed in Germany many years ago spoiled me. I've found some decent to good micro brews, but imo nothing compares to a really good hefeweizen and hofbrau is still my favorite.
