I basically asked them what we, as their customers, could do from their official perspective (as it relates to their biz/products) to help them in this fight so they could continue their business & we could continue to buy their products in the long-term.
As consumers we can buy from within our local economy, promote the addition of new Vapers in that same economy, and do so with as much vigor and prowess as we can muster.
Seeing as this is a federal issue, I would define local economy for those of us in the USA as exactly that, the USA. Direct purchases from outside the USA aren't being counted towards the size of our industry, we can't forward the argument that we have created xxxx number of factory jobs, or contributed xxxx number of dollars to the economy, or generated xxxx number of additional tax revenue for money spent outside of our borders. In general I think money trumps lots of wishful thinking on our part and on the FDA's part.
We need as many voices as possible to shout down this proposed set of regulations when it all comes to a head. In terms of a voice, the threat of lost votes has a strong pull. In terms of securing our ability to maintain the status quo, reducing the population of traditional smokers and any other nicotine based product reduces tax revenue making it rather difficult to kill off a potential revenue earning industry. Show me a list of pro vaping folks I can vote for and I will, show me a list of those against and I will do everything in my power to make sure every person I know does not vote for them.
At this very moment we are a consumer base that is scared out of our wits. We do need some solid direction, maybe similar to what I suggest above, maybe something totally different, either way it needs to be organized.
It should be self evident that we need to support the industry so that it may support us. I happen to like Five Pawns Bowden's Mate, and a local B&M has it in stock, Monday I will be buying a bottle, I don't need it but I will be supporting the industry. I placed an order last night for flavors from Wizard Labs, I need some O-rings for an atty so I'm looking for an e-cig vendor with what I need and not the wickedly stocked O-ring place close by, I'm needing cotton balls too and while I hate buying them from the B&M I will, all to keep my vaping money in the industry.
