Having diven deep into the world of vaping, I've spent a lot of time and money trying different things. Any day or dollar not spent on cigarettes is money well spent but you can still burn though a number of dollars trying different HW, batteries, tanks, etc. and with everything out there, its confusing. From $6 disposable ecigs to Hybrids/mods costing hundreds, its hard to know where to start so I thought I'd give my opinion of my money "best spent" - the best value for the money for someone looking to buy their first vaping setup. Again, this is just my opinion.

X6 Battery/Mod from MyFreedomSmokes.com $21
X6 Charger $3
Kanger ProTank or Vivi Nova Tank with a Stainless drip tip$18/$13

As an entry level device, the X6 variable voltage mod (its not really a mod, its a battery you can adjust to set voltages on) is a set up in quality from what you normally see in things like eGo's but about the same price. It's made of what appears to be solid aluminum, its light weight and durable and comes in a variety of colors. But unlike most starter pack eGo's, this has a 1300mah battery, more than double your typical eGo style battery. The only oddity about this device is that you will need their USB charger, which is just $3. It will charge other devices but other chargers may not charge the X6.

For a tank, the Vivi or Kanger are both good, proven choices. Both vape well, both are easy to fill and both offer replacement parts very cheaply. If you like a warmer vape, get the Vivi. If you like a cooler, airier vape, get the Kanger. I have and like both. I do recommend spending the $4 on a stainless steel drip tip for the Vivi since I find the cheap plastic one that is included to taste funky. If visuals are important, both of these tanks look good on the X6 since they are the same diameter. Both fit perfectly with clean lines.

So there you go, for about $40 not including shipping or whatever juices you pick out, you get a great starting vaping setup that works well and doesn't cost a fortune. It costs the same or less than most eGo starter packs, holds more liquid, has a longer lasting battery and as a guy, I like that its more the size of a medium cigar than a cigarette.

And 2 chargers also!

Realistically you need 2 of everything. That said you CAN get away with one charger while you decide if eCIgs are for you.

Speaking of chargers I desperately need to find a better charger for my Vamo batteries. This Trusfire one is a nightmare of not staying plugged in well enough to charge :p

I reckon a Vision Spinner vv (Ego clone) and Nova tank are tough to beat to begin with. $45 gets it and a charger. It's a low initial outlay and reliable. If people then decide that vaping is for them, then they can waste their money as i have, when they are a little more experienced.

Parts for these are easy to get and if they decided they wanted to get into RBAs - then there's little easier than making new coils for a Nova tank.

I find that a 650 eGo-T and an eVod is the best way to start. Plus charger thats under $20, looks awesomely slick, and no hassle. Protanks take a bit of tinkering to get a good vape.

And i speak as someone accustomed to Genesis level vape. The eVod performs extremely well and stands its ground among my collection of RBAs and mechs.

Another good solution is the Ego V Variable Voltage (just make sure to pay the small premium for the 1200mah version). It goes from 3.0-6.0v in 0.1v increments, which is displayed on an LCD, along with the battery level. You can also lock in the voltage by pressing on the + and - keys for a few seconds, so no accidentally upping or downing the voltage. It is also a passthrough device, which is nice, and the USB comes with the battery.

The cartomizer tank is pretty friendly for newbies, too. All the convenience of a cartomizer, with the juice capacity of the tank. The dual coil cartomizers help a lot with the throat hit, and are cheap.

i started with a gas station e-cig, after a couple weeks of it not doing its job properly I got rid of it. I did lots and lots of research online as to what the best device was to get, I ended up buying a PROVARI V2 with a VIVI NOVA tank (actually 2 of them just in case) I was a little intimidated at first bc of the price but hey that isn't anything compared to what I would be spending on analogs, so its all good here in provari land!!!!

Tucson, it's a dry heat
2 weeks in and I am glad I started with a simple eGo and EVODs. Inexpensive until you decide that vaping works for you. When I upgrade, I will use the eGos as backup/going-out PV.

Some of us need simplicity. It's hard enough to get through the withdrawals and adjustments without dealing with technical issues. It's enough to send someone running back to analogs.

Then you can concentrate your $$ on finding the right juice.

I know what you mean about cost; thats why mt sister hasn't stopped analogs. so this is what I did...I packed up my old starter kit which was an ego-t starter and put all the extra tip tanks covers and three bottles of e-juice and some carto's and gave it to her, and told her to use it and get off those d**n cigarettes.I showed her everything she needs to know about how to use and care for it. hope it works.

Although I'm slightly skillful with small electronics I would recommend to anyone a vision eternity atomizer. Can be finicky but on a 650mah. ego it blows any of the clearo's and carts out of the water as far as functionality and vape quality. The only thing I don't quite get is why you would need the ego-t style tank when the dripper holds 40 drops of juice. I suppose if you wanted to have a few flavors to pick from without too much mixing of flavors it might be handy, but with a nice rebuild able dripper with a huge capacity I'd prefer to just use less drops until i wanted to settle into a flavor for a while.
