Worried about this? Here's a solution.Get a USB Passthrough. I just purchased one in town that has the battery box at the end of the cord, so you can vape while keeping the battery compartment in your back pocket. Part of your .... blowing off is better then your teeth shattering (Vancity Vapor 20 bucks). They also have a 5 volt model with no battery at all(madvapes $19.99). Mine's on it's way. I hope he(the Florida man ) was using a mod, or was abusing the battery with constant use, I hope my ego stuff is not affected, but until then I'm sticking to my USB passthroughs while we wait for the whole story. Big tobacco is making a fortune every day the media keeps the facts away from us.

My advice, don't use cheap batts and make sure they are protected. Even more important, look at your mod and make sure it is vented, most batts don't explode they vent and gases released inside an enclosed container builds pressure and goes boom.
Common sense goes a long way whereas paranoia creates panic.

+1 for common sense. My DH (who doesn't vape) had heard about the exploding e-cig and was scared to tell me (I already knew, I'm on the ECF all day). He thought I would run out and buy a pack of analogs. I laughed so hard when he told me that.

I already said this once in the huge thread about this accident and I'll say it again....just pay attention to anything you use. Inspect it regularly. If you stack batteries like I do, always meter your batteries on/off the charger, let them rest before/after charging, inspect casings for tears, keep your mod clean and inspect the tube for any little metal pieces that could cause a short, and inspect firing pin and spring. Use top quality batteries...skimping to save a few bucks can/will cost you more in the long run if you land in the hospital. Use common sense and educate yourself on batteries.

So now it will just blow your .... off instead of knocking out your teeth. Nice trade off.
Personally I will only stack bats side by side in a non conductive housing (plastic or wood)
Only use protected or safer chemestry bats.

Pay attention to the little things, and most accidents will never happen!

Some mods take more then one battery. Some of them you have to put one battery on top of the other.

Some mods are made for use with a single battery to vape at 3.7v and if you take 2 smaller batteries and stack them in a unit you can achieve 6v+ to vape at high voltage.

yes, if you stack two 3.7v batts then you will have 7.4v which some like to vape at.

Locally (for you) I hear DFW VApors in Denton has some good stuff. I've never been. I don't go that far north.

As a reminder, most PC/laptops' USB ports don't provide enough current to vape any passthrough with no battery. AC wall adapters that do have enough only cost a few dollars.

you could DIY an extension cord with a couple of ecig connectors/adapters and a lenght of 2 conductor wire. Then you could use your existing manual batteries and only have the carto close to your face..

.. actually that might make an interesting mod option ... in addition to the corto connector on the mod itself, have a jack that would allow you plug in an extension cable with a remote switch and carto connector.

you are right ... its just you. scab it together with hot glue and scotch tape ... then yes ... properly done ... no problem.
