Ok.....here's a new one.

Got it back together, made sure there were no shorts this time. Fires up.

Now, that being said....the battery is overheating. So much so that the batt tube is getting very hot....not burning hot, but hot enough that you wouldn't want to hold it. Enough to tell you something is wrong. From the little....and I mean VERY little knowledge I have in electrical...it seams to like there is some sort of grounding out issue that I can't figure out.

When I am welding, my ground clamp always gets very hot. But in that use, that's normal. Could there be something (that wasn't there before) wrong with my negative side? Then again, may just be the old batts...trustfire 16340s.

Nope, I have had this happen before and it was a short between the pos and neg side. The pos was shorting to the aluminum case and the battery would get VERY hot, was afaid it would runnaway and explode. I would check for a short somewhere in the system. Double check all wiring and ensure the paths are correct and ohm check all connections pos to ground etc...

That's what I don't get, it is protected.

I've checked everything and I can't find one place that is touching, other than the soldered negative post. I put heat shrink tube on anything exposed in the switch housing. I just took one of my 18350s off the charger, and I'm not getting the same problem. So I guess it's the batts.

Dan....time to start mass producing those babies. LOL

I know you've been resisting but I think it's time to get a working multimeter. $20 one would do just fine.

You are right Lorderos, it's a full rebuild. I was wondering if that was the case, and I think it is....pretty sure it is. After reading your post, I double checked with my tester. I hook the alligator clip to the positive post, hold down the button, and check several places. This time I touched it to the outside of the switch housing and the light came on, which tells me it is shorting out somewhere. I'm gonna tear it back down, and do a complete reassemble. If that doesn't work.....I'm sending it to you...lol
Check the +/- posts without a kanthal wrap,it should read about 4v with button pushed.Than try it with the coil wrapped,if it still works put the cap on and try it.[Process of elimination.]If it doesn't work with the cap on clean the threads, this happened to me on the big one, never on the mini though.Keep us posted. You'll get it.

@ 'lorderos':

If you're not using threaded rod for the leads, you can put 1mm x 1mm o-rings around the leads inside the switch hosing passages. This eliminates the need to use silicone in the switch housing to seal the liquid out. It's more durable and reliable than the silicone sealant.

So this would work w/ using the original 1mm wire/ear stick system?

If you go with the original silver wire/ear stick tubes method, you would cut the ear sticks a little short and use 3 or more 1mm x 1mm o-rings per lead wire on the bottom housing. This will work to eliminate leaks from the tank to the switch housing. I did mine with silicone o-rings. They are a bit softer than the harder nitriles and as such you want to make sure you lube them a little with petroleum jelly or nic juice as you insert them. It's a little tedious, but well worth the effort.

I went with the threaded rods because it also addresses the issue of unreliable kanthal connections.

If/when you decide to make a production run, you can put me down for one of each of the ego and provari models. If you need help getting the co-op started, or help organizing, feel free to ask as well. I'm always willing to help good people :)

Ok will do, will keep you in the loop if I decide to do a co-op. I think I have my plans finalized in emachineshop, just need to go back and double check the dimensions.

Well got her all put together, got the electrical connections done, SS rolled and new poly tubing cut. Using a borrowed cap to present her. Just have to make her own cap for vapestock and wrap the coil and she is ready for a raffle!

Yep as you can see she has the quick connect/disconnect post also. Both the scubagen3's I am donating to VapeStock will have the quick connectors.

I think we need a video, from filling, to vaping. This is beautiful.
