Luckily I know most of the cops in my area from working at a local bar. Best to keep some info on you though for those that don't know.

Wear a vaping t-shirt or hat;

While I think anyone who pulls up to a random person and yells that they're calling the cops is not very smart... Is anyone honestly surprised that some people who aren't familiar with vaping and have never heard of a "PV" or a "mod" or an "rba" see someone putting something to their face that is NOT a cigarette or a cigar and then watch "smoke" come out, assume it's something else?

Thankfully, these devices are becoming more and more mainstream, so we hopefully won't have to deal with this for much longer. But please do us all a favor and don't default to vitriol and assume someone is an idiot because they aren't familiar with your esoteric hobby devices.

Wow. I vape in my car like a chimney. I even hot box it and have always been concerned about cops or someone reporting me for using drug paraphernalia. The setup my husband got me I would have to go to court and fight for if that ever happened. Sorry to hear about your incident. Not may people know about these devices as the general public is just barely getting exposed and may be the reason why the police confiscated your setup because they were unsure.

They confiscated my batteries and atomizers because they "resembled paraphernalia"

You gotta be kidding! So if they see a nurse with a hemostat that resemble a (ahem) clip, they can take it? Or a pipe that resembles something that someone might smoke something else in? Or what about a bum with roll-your-own tobacco? Oh, wait. You're in NYC. Well, maybe you'll get a decent mayor one of these years.

you wouldn't have to go to court to fight for it if you didn't let them take it in the first place...
just because it "looks" like something illegal is not proof of anything illegal...it is reasonable cause to investigate and confirm/deny in my opinion but not *take* just because they are uneducated.

that is like taking a diabetic's kit because you *could* use it for something else.....

p.s. i am in moorpark

HAHA, now that you mentioned that, The other half and I were riding home from a restaurant the other day, and he tried to take his insulin at a stop light, and the light changed, so he's driving down the street holding a syringe, and I'm vaping away on an MVP box... I was just waiting for blue lights... :blink:

Connotation and definition differ. "Drug" often has the connotation of "illegal drug" among other connotations depending on context. The use of connotative words is often a manipulative tactic.
Uh, is this going to be one of those, "He implied..." vs, "No, you inferred..." convos :)
