I have posted before that the only crappy thing about vaping for me is dealing with coils (I use ProTanks for all my vaping).
Coils are finicky and cannot be trusted. You can be vaping perfectly one minute, and the next, it could be vaping hell just because the coil decided to crap out on you, get clogged, get dry, get flooded, etc.

Someone needs to invent a tank that is wire/wick free. Where it has a glass chamber, and then the "coil" part on the bottom is a tiny, itsy bitsy metallic chamber that holds e-liquid to be heated. Where all parts are permanent, and can be cleaned if you need to freshen things up.

One can dream.....

I had a very similar idea, with your heating element as a "hot plate" although it would in reality be more like a tiny little pin with a flat head. Put a bowl type structure around it to hold liquid near and vape on.

Not sure how it would work if a reality, it could in fact, be way too high ohm to be plausible for such use. Who knows.

I agree though, we need to invent this.

actually it wouldnt be such a problem if the companies making these cheaper items invested in QC

If you are getting tired of bummer coils I'd reccomend a terminator rebuildable!
You may ask " why do I want a rebuildable, I just said I hate dealing with coils"! Well, I'll tell you. Terminator coils are pretty easy to build (after a little learning curve), once they're built its pretty stable (read: consistent vape), I dry burn mine once every week or two and rebuild every month or two (that's two months on a coil).
All that equals the least fiddily and longest lasting atomizer I've ever used. And it vapes awesome!

I agree with Thrasher you get what you pay for. I can run a set up in my Kayfun or Ithaka for months they are reliable I take them to work. If the clearos with the disposable coils made high quality stuff for one it would not be so cheap second they would not sell nearly as many coil heads.

Your sacrificing quality and fiddle factor for price and convince. There is always a trade off.

They could sell them in different ohms....I'm sure with modern science/technology, this could be a reality!!! I just know nothing about the physics behind it all. Like I said...one can dream....

Rebuilding isn't really for me....and even though I'm sure that I could overcome the learning curve...can you imagine never having to worry about stuff like that? It would be awesome.

it's not for me either. but the quest for big clouds has taken over and i purchased my first RBA.. i'll start with simple coil replacement (got 5 replacement coils) then move on to actual building. yea imagine not learning maintenance and how this stuff works.. def not for me.

I know many a peoples that have said no rebuilds for me....

Trust me, get a cheap one with a big area to work on the coil, it's easy as pie, and once mastered... Way better vape than anything.

Is it a PITA... not at all,

I build a coil and it last's for a very long time, I don't know how long, because I usually rebuild them before they're not working... I'm not sure why I do this, usually because I like to mess around with it, but my builds would last months I'm sure. I'm at 5 weeks with a build, and it's as good as the day I built it... (actually better).

If you didn't rebuild it for fun, you could probably do a few builds a year and it's always good.

I wash mine pretty thoroughly, boil them, I'm not gentle with them, and they stay good.

Try a rebuildable,

come to the dark side, we have cookies.

Yes, I am sure some kind of hot pin or plate system can be designed just as hot water kettles are designed with the coils underneath a plate, but you can get a cheap one with the heating element exposed and visible to the user and immersed in the water.

Maybe higher power would be required but I'm fine with that because I want it to plug in direct to the wall anyway; no need to restrict to 5 volts as far as I am concerned; use a low volatage system when you have to but have a main system for stationary use.
