When I use a carto in a tank, I am always (or usually) conscious of where the punched hole is in the carto, especially when the tank gets down around half full. When I vape, I try to make sure the hole is in the "down" position. This way the hole is actually submerged in juice when I take a draw. I don't know if this helps things or not but I rarely have any problems anymore. I feel like if the hole is above the juice line, when suction is applied, I'm pulling in air rather than juice and this might upset the balance of air and juice inside the tank. I don't know if it does or not or if I'm even in the ballpark but all I know is what I'm doing, for some reason, has been working. This may have been mentioned before but I haven't seen it yet.

Shoot.. if I believed that my tanks would only work when wearing a certain pair of socks.. I'd be doing the wash every day!

I tried various clearomizers before I tried a tank, thinking the clearo's would be easier and less hassle. What a mistake! I just got my first DCT last night. Granted, I'm only on my first fill, but this is easy, consistent, no leaks...loving it. I had the same thought about the hole, so I also make sure mine is on the downhill side.

@RickMc: Wait until you lose a full DCT of juice because it slides off too easy. That has happened to me three times. Tanks are wonderful, but losing all of my juice was just terrible. Problem will be solved with my phiniac. Just be cautious of how and where you grip your device with that tank on it. For anyone who has watched Pbusardo's review of them, my reaction was pretty much the same...all three times.

@donnah: I watch for that as well whenever I start using a new carto. I'll keep tabs on where the hole is placed once it's screwed onto my device and hold it accordingly so that the hole is on the downside. I don't want to burn the filler because it got air in there.

I think your observation about the punch hole being submerged when taking a hit is spot on, Donnah. Although, using my Sub Tank, which if I'm not mistaken, you use too, a simple unscrewing of the thumb screw and a quick dry pull is always all I need to replenish juice in the carto. I wonder, are you saying that with keeping the punch holes submerged, you now never have to unscrew the thumbscrew? Or is this method for a different tank from your Sub?

If it wasn't for my dislike of cartos in general, I'd be using my Sub Tank all the time. Sadly, it's been sitting because of constant scratchy throat from the cartos.

Try a different DCT, i use Mom and Pop's Sub Tank - no sliding on the carto whatsoever with that thing. It's actually pretty hard to disassemble since it holds the carto so tight ;)

I once thought I'd never use a tank without a fill hole but it seems I had more problems back when I used a fill hole. When using the grommets style tanks it was hard to fill the tank with a syringe and not leave too much air in the tanks. When I got a bunch of dctanks (and yes I know they can be "slidey") I tried using them without drilling fill holes and they seem to work better. Filling is quick, easy and not messy. I felt like sometimes when I would unscrew the screw to let some air in, I did more harm than good.

The only time that I feel the need to take a few "dry pulls ' is during the first few hours..after that it wicks great with only the occasional dry pull.

Whatever I'm doing seems to be working...I haven't had a flood or a burn in weeks. (But I'm sure I will now after saying this Lol ") especially since I started paying attention to where the hole was positioned while vaping. I'm thinking of intentionally tilting it in the upward position to see if it makes a difference.
