Somethings missing.....real cigs! duh! I believe for anyone who is still smoking analog cigs they will definitely feel like somethings missing (I did also). But after 3 weeks of no analog cigs there really is nothing that is missing anymore. I surely do not miss the nasty smell or taste. Ok so I have to take a few minutes a day to refill my carts or plug a battery in, take more stuff with me daily to work, etc, etc but I think it is so worth it.

:( that is the troublesome part ya is worth it ..

u have to bring extras when going out to town.
even u fully charged the batteries.they do ownself discharged even u don;t use it .

that why I use my janty at home only .

yups is all on the smokers mind but too bad ,maybe some individuals still prefer real cigs ?

My gosh...if i didnt have to charge a battery or top off a cartridge...i would have no pause in my daily vaping....lol...just kidding!

The old ritual was buying the packs at the local cig store...finding the matches, lighter, or making sure the car cig lighter works. Dont forget the cost of butane or disposable lighters! Oh that horrible feeling when you had the cig but no light! Those are days gone bye...

Instead we have a ecig that doesn't have as much bad things to hurt us. Doesn't affend those around us. Doesn't stain our teeth or hands. Doesn't make our breath or clothes smell like nasty nasty stinky ashtrays.

Yeah vapor gets crapy or diminishes when the cart gets low or your drip is gone...that is our indicator to take a break, just like an end of a burning cig...and we take a break...top off a cartridge, instead of pulling out a cig. Charge a battery instead of drive to the local cig store.

It is an evolution to our addiction...and i believe is much better for us.

for me e smoking is an addiction just like real cigs were an addiction.. i get the impression some are finding the whole thing fun and are even doing it for fun..

i made the swap for real health reasons.. i find the down sides to e smoking less of a problem indoors than outdoors.. but i only do it because i feel i have to.. and it can be a pain in the .... at times..

if it wasnt for the health reason i wouldnt e smoke.. its not "better" than real smoking simply "healthier".. long term it might turn out not to be as "healthy" as we think but that has to be found out..

the best i can say for e smoking is it got me off real smoking (magic) but it aint all roses..

basically the chinese have done what the medical profession should have done years ago.. found a healthier alternative to tobacco smoking for addicts who cant lose their habit..

:D:pI live in asia and know alot from china , somemore I am chinese here. but I not born in china .

as far as I concern , they ownself are into real cig more than e cig.
as I mention , they still cannot get the "feel" of actual cig comparing with e cig.

but they are not giving up , still research on this but sadly as far I concern seem like there is not much improvement yet on e cig technology.

current techology has its limitations fish.. science fiction has none.. some people find it hard to differentiate between the two..

i cant see anything changing that much in the near future dude.. as long as the market wants these things to look like real cigarettes things will stay pretty much as they are..

Its a few things that come to my mind, as to the missing links.

Feel - lightness and feel of a real smoke, but that dosent bother me as much, as long as i have something between my smokeing fingers.
Taste, above all, that taste. I like the sweetness of the E-cig, but the slight bitter/hickory/smoke flavor has just not been perfected yet. Burning, is not the same as coating. Ex smokers may understand what I am trying to say.
Consistancy would help e-cigs as well, but that will come with newer models im sure.
As far as them being a pain? Sure they can be, but with a little for thought, you can set them up so its second nature to you. It is a device after all. IS it a pain to put oil or petrol into your car? Being a little machine, it needs maintenence as well, fluid under the hood, a little gas, and a good battery, to just get a few more miles out of it :D

i think they are about to get insulted with every packets carrying a picture of rotting lungs or some other obscene graphic..

I just saw a news story yesterday that they're thinking about requiring that here, too. I only saw part, though, so I'm not sure if it was a California bill, or US.

They've been doing that in Thailand for years, though, so I'm pretty used to it. When I'm over there I always annoy the 7-11 and Family Mart clerks by "browsing"" through all the packs until I find one I think is funny. :D

Well, you know that the cell phone and PDA people are surely working on new battery technology, so keep an eye on them. Whenever they make their next breakthrough, we'll probably get trickle down battery tech a year or so after.

I'm not saying that'll happen soon, but you know sooner later it will happen.

Hmm. Trog and I are agreeing more and more. We are both old-timers in the New World of E-Smoking, and I have exactly the same bottom line as Trog. E-smoking leaves me wanting. In every way. It does not replicate cigarette smoking so it will be rejected as "pretend smoking" by many cigarette smokers.

I do it quite simply because I don't cough well into the night any more. After 50 years of 30 cigs a day, I had developed an "every 3 minutes" cough that worsened when I lay down to sleep. That disappeared 7 days after I quit cigarettes. But, unlike Trog, I'm not trying to survive on just e-vapor. Without my pipes, snus, Stonewall and daily cigar, I'd surely end up back on cigarettes.

I like e-smoking. But I truly don't understand the "I-like-it-better" set.

Maybe the reason you still miss real cigs and I don't is that you like the real cig flavor, including the smoke. Lots of foods, from barbeque to scotch take flavor from smoke. I'm sure part of the cigarette flavor you miss is from the smoke, which is probably why it's so hard to duplicate.

But me, I never liked the flavor of tobacco smoke. I just learned to tolerate it. And while I prefered Menthol over regulars, I never really liked even that. It was never minty enough. The flavor choices alone make e-cigs better than real cigs for me.

Then there was the ash. And being clumsy as I am, I was always getting upset at myself for spilling the ashtray. Or burning my clothes. Or the smell, or the yellowish film on all my screens, windows and mirrors. But you all agree with that part, I expect. :D

I agree, too, but that was part of "living with the habit." I paid it little attention.

And, yes, I miss the smoke flavor. So much so that I've spent lots of time researching how to get smoke flavor I could add to the liquid. But commercial smoke flavors are for sauces, etc., and I don't want a "pecan, hickory, maple" etc. burned wood flavor. So I tried actually making liquid smoke from pipe tobacco. My experiment, detailed elsewhere, did not work.

I haven't given up, however. If I can find a way to get real tobacco smoke flavor in a liquid, I'll add it to a base nicotine liquid.

I miss flavor .. and the feel .. of real smoke.

Oh .. DevilFish .. no real cigar smoker inhales. Never. I do not. Smokers of the new "little cigars" often inhale, because these are more like cigarettes. Real cigars would put you on your back if you inhaled. Just puff in, hold the smoke in the mouth, and blow out. That's how both cigars and pipes are smoked. My lungs remain untouched by the smoke.

Because of a ton of stress over the last two weeks, I bought myself a pack of Quest cigs. Extra low nicotine. I've had a couple of those a day to take care of that "something's missing". Otherwise, I may have grabbed a pack and began puffing the dog out of those. I feel like crap for doing it, since I haven't had a real cig in 5 months...but I had to do something. Something happened over the course of having two grandbabies within 2 days of each other and my grandmother across town in another hospital being treated by a heart surgeon. And the lack of sleep between. The e-cig lacked something for me through that period.

*sigh*

But I'm vaping today again. So....I still have those left-over Quests. Putting them in the drawer til next time.

cut.jpg

u wont find many C sized lithium cells like that one cos as yet cos lithium ion still isnt really considered a safe technology..

the one one the left would power an e cig for a week.. it just requires some "miraculous" shrinkage to get it into the little tube.... he he

the one on the right is an e cig one by the way..
