Long, long ago when I worked behind a counter I carded everybody regardless of how old they looked (in Michigan you have to have your ID on you to purchase alcohol or tobacco regardless of your age).

That said, if the ID looked legit...sheesh...sounds like you snagged an idiot. I'd have a chat with the manager.

@Spider362, that's hilarious! This post wasn't very e-cig related, but it just baffles me that the hassle can be so uprooting at times. This forum is a big influence on my life lol. I've had so much support and the pleasure of meeting some wonderful souls.

I just got off the phone with Travis(the owner) and he is going to have a talk with the employee. He invited me to a smoke session this afternoon at a local hookah bar along with the other owner.-such sweet people. They both know that I started analogs when I was twelve, they know the trials I've had in the past year..and they know I can get cranky lol.

@Hokus, I had many things to say..I wasn't a happy camper ha.

Well, this is good news!
Try and think of it this way...
Your persistence may have kept many more younger folks off the stinks!
If you had just stomped off and never looked back, think of how many other people he could have turned away and just said "scr3w it" and gone down the street and bought a pack of smokes.
Now, hopefully, he'll get a good talking to and things will change.

I feel like that is a bit harsh.

Quit patronizing local brick and mortar shops and soon enough there wont be any.

This is a case of a guy in a shop trying to protect himself from criminal charges. If it were me I would have just told the lady that I needed to make a copy of her ID to prove not only that I checked it but to protect myself from any suspicion. At that point if she refused THEN I would have refused to sell to her.

It's a clear case of people being so afraid of our own government who is not present that they are rude and condescending to people that are present.

Sad really, but IMHO, never giving the B & M shop your business again is just a knee jerk reaction that ultimately hurts us all.

YMMV, Just my opinion.

They would not have my business ever again.

I sure hope so! I hate seeing young people on cigarettes, though. I really hope electronic cigarettes keep making way, which I have no doubt they will.

Well, this is good news!

@EasyMango, all of the local shops around here that are strictly "vape equipped" are poop. Then you have your regular smoke shops like the Tobacco Barn, or One Stop Smoke Shop, that treat everyone like crap. I've had my rounds when I was younger, this one shop in particular is the only one that fits many peoples fancy. Unless we want to drive an hour and a half to find another one that's only half-way decent.- That being said, I'm glad I got a proper response.

See, and I would have been fine with him copying my ID instead of throwing a fit that I didn't want to deal with without his manager there. I completely understand his suspicions.- I get it all too often. Like said, it's not enough for me to say "I'm not going back", so many people love that shop! Just a bad egg at the wrong time of day.

Well, I'm glad the incident is settled for you, but I'm afraid for the employee. He did *exactly* what he's supposed to do, especially in light of all the traps LEA's set up these days. In my neck of the woods he'd be arrested and hauled off in cuffs for selling to a 17-yr-old, so I might take the high road and get to know the guy for the next time.

And I agree with the scanned license, though I'd black out all the personal info not needed. That same guy could be the type to sell your info online! LOL

That clerk is an idiot, or a jerk, or both.

If you know who the owner is I would have a friendly chat with him/her the next time you see him/her in the shop. I am sure they don't want to sell to people under age but I would also bet more than a dollar they don't want to be turning away loyal paying customers.

That guy sounds like one of the many people in this world that don't like to see other people being happy and take little opportunities like this to make other people days a little worse than they might otherwise be, and I imagine he probably won't be working at that shop very long.

*edit - and again I prove that I haven't learned to read the whole thread before replying, lol. Glad to hear you talked to the owner, sounds like good people.

VAPE ON!! :D

I stopped getting carded when I was 18. I'm 22 now, and I realize that I'm getting old as dirt lol.

I'd just talk with the manager or owner. If you're of legal age to buy with a legitimate ID, you shouldn't be turned down unless you're causing a public disturbance (which of course you were not.)

Be proud that you still look like a baby :p :D

@Jibbu, I can see both sides. I just didn't see the need to make a deal out of it. He could have handled it more professionally than totally shutting me out, you know? I do agree with you, none the less.

@Statistic, haha, I agree. The world needs many more happy people!

@SilentEcho13, looking like a baby does have it's cons, my friend;) Old as dirt? That means I'm getting pretty up there, too lol. You look your age, quite handsome in fact.

You know you look older than dirt when you walk into the room and an associate says to you/me, "Watch out for your step, sir. We don't want you to get hurt or end up breaking a hip."

When I don't get carded...I miss it
When I do get carded...I feel thankful
When I don't get service after being carded...I'm raging!!!

I feel for you, ShyBabe15...

Pssht I don't feel like one!

Joints hurt, no energy, and constant headaches! :D

:(

Damn bro, that doesn't sound age related. Do you get enough sleep and drink enough water? I thought vaping was making me tired and lazier than before when I smoked.. I realized I was always exhausted because I was on this forum till 4am on a regular basis!! LOL. Not getting enough sleep and I didn't realize at first how INCREDIBLY dehydrating vaping is.

If you're not already please people, drink plenty of water. Drink more than you think you need to. It is amazing how deceptively dehydrating vaping is to your body, which can be totally offset by drinking water (which I never drank enough of before I started vaping anyways, another thing to thank vaping for)

Oh, there are many advantages..some do out-weigh the cons as well.

That's what sleep and sugar is for.

You're quite welcome, thought I'd let you know!:)

OP: Please don't let anyone make a copy of your license. Ever. There is no business need for some ...... at some dumbass silly vape shop to have that much of your personal info. I can count on 1 hand the amount of times someone actually NEEDED a copy of my license.

Let's talk about this guy for a second, I can almost see him in my head:

Shorts and t shirt - both raggedy, maybe a stupid beanie hat on his head
half grown face pubes in some ridiculous "hipster" fashion/style
mod hanging around his neck like a 2 year old would have his/her boppie

Am I close?

8 hours like clockwork, 1.5 gallons a day. I just go to school full time, work one job, and manage a photography business on top of daily powerlifting training, so I'm just burnt out lol.

Sleep yes, sugar no lol. For some reason, just looking at candy and stuff makes my teeth hurt and I have no idea why -_-

I'll take your compliment as the highlight of my day heh :)
