Hi fellow vapors ,Iv'e been fighting this vapors tongue for the last 6 mo, lost almost all my taste for the foods I really like( t bone steak or any beef) pork is about the only meat that taste the same, I'm whatyou call a chain vapor over 8 mils a day, maybe its the juice ,been hitting the buttered rum , cream De menthe, and some cinnamon apple. I have quit all of them and been just vaping almost straight vg with just a hint of mint, and also down to about 4 mil a day ,so far the taste has come back and the sore tongue has almost gone, been also using lemon juice rinse, I was all most to the point of going back to the cigs, but I have also found that cheaper juices can also cause vapors tongue 8.00$ for 30mls, started using juice from Zeus juice, the old saying you get what you pay for , hopes this help someone else with this problem.. dennis,j................

cinnamon flavored juices will mess with your taste buds if you overdo them. So can mint/menthol and a couple others have the possibility of it.

I'm so sorry - that totally sucks! Did you try Gatorade instead of water? And I got my best flavor of the past week after I had an iced coffee from Starbucks today. What did you vape? Maybe try switching juices so you're vaping a different one each day?
I did try Gatorade and it immediately helped but once I started vaping again it came right back. I've used about 8 different flavors from 4 different vendors. I've tried 50/50 juice as well as 70vg/30pg and 100vg

AK Maniak how are you doing today?

I am a happy girl this morning - I think my vaper's tongue is about 90% better. (Don't hate me lol) Still having dry mouth sometimes, but I'm going to stick with the Gatorade, the mouthwash, and the B vitamin blend I picked up. Hopefully this will keep it to a minimum!

It isn't as bad as it was before but with that being said i've only taken about 5 hits all day today.

AK what ohms are you vapping at? For about a month I dropped to around .2ohm and I had the same experiences. I just jumped back up to around .5 ohms and its making a big difference. Also try making your airflow bigger.

I am making a few assumptions here so if they are wrong just ignore them. You said you started a little over a week ago and I see a mechanical in your avatar. It might just be a cool picture but if its your set up you might need to play around with it a bit more.

It's hard to tell but in my pic is my provari which is what i am using. I have it sitting below a nautilus tank and have swapped between their 1.6 and 1.8ohm BDC.

I've tried using the largest airhole and taking really slow drags but it the difference was negligible.

THIS. I'm 99% positive this is what originally caused my problems. I got some Durasmoke cinnamon apple - I only vaped it for like a day, but I think it killed my mouth.

Hi all, this is my first post and same problems. Vaping 5 weeks and got VP about 3 w ago, probably trying to feel anything i was puffing much more for couple a days and I think I got taste bud inflammation. Its papile foliate on bouth sides of tongue. I really dont know what to do, was trying everything, water, lemon, mouthwash, tongue scrub, diferent flav, pg/vg so it must be inflammation. So you should check you're tongue for changes maybe u got same thing. Im thinking of quit vapin n back to analogs for a week or two untill this agony ends.

I've been vaping for less than 2 weeks, and for the past 4 days my tongue and mouth have been sore and I can barely taste the flavor of my juices anymore.

I've found some info on "vaper's tongue" but I was always a lighter smoker (sometimes I'd go for days without a cigarette) so I think it's doubtful that it would be caused by quitting the cigs. I've been switching up my flavors multiple times a day since the beginning so it's not that I'm just used to one flavor.

It started with just my tongue - I tried some apple cinnamon juice that was pretty strong on the cinnamon, and the first couple days I figured it was just that. But now it's been 4 days and my whole mouth is just raw. I've increased my water intake (by a lot), I'm brushing my tongue when I brush my teeth, I tried pickles to "cleanse my palette."

I can still can barely taste my juice, but I can taste food and drinks fine, so I'm starting to freak out. I loved all the juice flavors for the first few days and I just want to be able to taste them again!

I've been vaping for about 1 1/2 years and I've never had that problem. I've heard some people say that some people are allergic to pg. You may be having an allergic reaction - perhaps you should see your doctor.

@rc3po -- I'm happy to report that I'm back to almost 100% - I can taste my juices again, with only occasional times tasting less. I think that's more due to dehydration, which everyone says is normal. Still trying to keep my liquid intake up when I'm vaping.

I still think the culprit was that a case of "standard" vapor's tongue aggravated by that apple cinnamon juice... I've had other problems with the local vape shop where I got it, so I wouldn't be surprised. :nah:

Glad you figured it out. I've been chugging water all day and it seems to help a bit, as it is slowly residing. However if I chain vape it comes back quite quickly

I just have to put my two cents worth in...

One night last week I made myself a wonderful plate of nachos, with jalapenos piled on. I love hot, spicy food! When I settled down with my favorite dessert ejuice - I couldn't taste any sweetness to it whatsoever! I tried every tank I had and nothing had even the slightest sweetness. I finally had to quit vaping for the night. The next morning my favorite sweet flavors tasted great. Apparently, the pepper spice affected only the sweetness receptor taste buds. So, I'm learning that some food should be avoided if I'm really looking forward to a sweet, chocolately vape afterwards!

Keep us posted...I'd like to hear how this situation gets resolved, and good luck!

I've been vaping for about the past 8 months (and some back in '09)... I've had VT just as Maniak's experience a couple times... It took 6 days to get over it the first time and finally taste about 90% flavour, and it took 4 days the second time. I noticed my cinnamon and menthol flavours were the ones that kind of 'zapped' the flavour away both times so I try to keep those under a couple tanks a week. The first time, I tried everything and I honestly think all the mouthwash, switching flavours, ratios, and other random things to help probably made it a longer recovery. Because the second time, I just kept up my water intake and just used juices I didn't care for the taste (couldn't taste em anyway!), and it went away sooner and flavour came back more intense than before. Hope it subsides soon so you can enjoy vaping again!

I got full blown VT with in 3 weeks of vaping for 9 full days- tasted ZERO and again after that about a month later where I tasted ZERO for 4 full days. And I say Zero, I mean nothing-not cinnamon, mint, tobaccos, fruit flavors-nothing.

I tried every remedy I could find on ECF, YT, Google-the only thing that worked was time. I drink a ton of water and use Biotene mouth wash till this day and I still get slight VT every other month or so.I switch flavors 7-10 times a day but what I do find is the draw is very important. Quick draws in rapid succession can put the taste buds in a tizzy and kind of "shocks" them and they can go to sleep. I tend to vape like this when I'm anxious or nervous (like I did when I smoked).

Long, slow draws helps keep the taste buds "normal" and this has helped me with the VT issues I've experienced for over a year. I still get the random muted tastes but not nearly as bad or long as I use to. I hate when it happens, its annoying and after this long of vaping, not sure why I still get it.

Cut out the PG, change brands and stay hydrated. Anything lower than 80% VG does that to me.

I actually have the opposite problem, I think. I've had better vaping experiences with 50/50 PG/VG than the higher VG. The one 100% VG I have makes my throat hurt (like an allergic reaction). It may be flavoring, but I'm hesitant to try another 100% when I haven't had issues with the blends. YMMV :)
