Wait a minnit - let's back up and run over this one again.

First, vapers tongue is only the loss of an ability to taste e-liquid flavors. So let's separate that out from the other stuff. If that is what is going on, for most people it passes in a few days. Rarely, there are a few people who have a bout of vapers tongue that lasts for months no matter what they try. But as I said - rarely.

Some people get mouth ulcers when they stop smoking. It's not a vaping related thing and can happen to someone who quit that never touched an e-cig. If the condition is getting worse or becomes really bothersome see an MD for help with it.

There is the possibility that you are having a reaction to an ingredient in your liquids. If that's the case the only way you can really check that is to get a bottle each of unflavored at your regular nic level, one in 100 PG the other in 100 VG. Do this with no flavorings to get the question of a reaction to a flavor out of the equation.

Be aware that the mouthwash you bought may be making things worse. If this is an adverse reaction to PG in your vaping liquids one of the primary ingredients in that Biotene mouthwash, and others, is... PG.

Lastly, there are two conditions known as geographic tongue and burning mouth syndrome - neither of which is a vaping caused condition. Geographic tongue has the appearance of skin peeling, like in a sunburn, but only on the tongue. With burning mouth syndrome the "peeling" isn't present, but there an overall sensation of burning or stinging and the condition is aggravated by vaping and certain foods.

Some people get a feeling of ulcers and a sore tongue - even though no ulcers are visible - when they have a vitamin B deficiency.

Vitamin B is also used to treat burning mouth syndrome.

That's the 411. But we can't see you and we sure as hell can't treat you either. It's your call as to if and when you need to check in with a medical professional for a check.

I've tried pretty much every variation of liquid, and it all seems to be the same for me at least. I have both, vapers tongue, as well as extremely bad dry mouth.

I've had a few analogues and they don't have the same effect as vaping does. Only thing that seems to make it better is when I go a few hours without vaping at all.

Drymouth = drink more water

You've said you've been vaping less than two weeks. It's really hard to judge something like vaper's tongue in the first couple weeks of not smoking, especially when you're still smoking here and there.

Smoking effects things like your taste buds. There are other things that it does to the inside of your mouth that take time to heal themselves after you quit. Like I just said on the last page, it's common to feel like you've lost your ability to taste your vape in the first couple weeks because your mouth is healing itself. That period of time is normally followed up by the most flavor you've had since you started smoking.

in other words it is quite doubtful you have vaper's tongue. You're webMDing your self.

On the off chance (again highly doubtful this is the cause) you did have vaper's tongue try a pickle or some oil and vinegar dressing over a big salad. The vinegar seems to counteract whatever happens with vaper's tongue, and helps you get past it.. at least in my experience.

I'm 99% positive that it is not from me quiting analogues because I would normally only smoke at work. I work 2 weeks on and 2weeks off up in Alaska. When I am home I don't smoke, so in a sense I would temporarily quit for 2 weeks at a time every month.

The symptoms i'm currently experiencing happened within 48 hours of me starting to vape.

I understand what you're saying, but if I was going to have a reaction to something in the juice, wouldn't it have happened within the first day or two, and not over a week later? And of course I don't expect any more from the forums but advice, and I greatly appreciate it. :)

Problem 1 = I can't taste much of my flavors. Drinking water/Gatorade helps temporarily, but if I take more than a couple drags the flavor drops again. So betting that would be "vaper's tongue" which should (hopefully) go away soon? pleasepleasepleasepleaseplease

Problem 2 = My tongue is sore, like I drank a cup of coffee that was too hot. But this has been going on for days. Possibly "burning mouth syndrome," then? A multi-vitamin high in Bs wouldn't hurt, in any case.

No.

It might even be just 1 flavor causing the problem.

It might be citrus in plastic tank causing a problem.

Lots of variables.

every time i vap i get this dry feeling in the back top of my throat . i have tried every thing different vendors, 100% vg, low nic 6 and still really cant get rid of this feeling . and yes i am still smoking cigs also . . when i started vaping i really didn't set out to quiet smoking and witch i haven't . but if this throat feeling would stay away i could vap more and cut out all the cigs. the feeling is gone when i wake up but will slowly come back the more i vap through the day .

Update: my sore mouth seems to be better today, and juice flavor is a bit better too. Yesterday I vaped only my 100% VG and today a 50/50 blend and no noticeable difference between the two. Keeping hydrated (Gatorade seems to do a better job than the gallons of water I was drinking - this could get expensive lol) and using the mouthwash, and I'm hoping within the next few days things will continue to get better!

Keep me updated because i'm getting extremely frustrated. I just went 24 hours without vaping and my tongue was back to 90% of what it was before. I took a few hits had some decent flavor and then went right back to the way it was. Feels like my tongue is coated in fur or something. I've literally been drinking gallons of water, almost to the point where I couldn't drink any more without throwing up. I've been brushing my teeth and tongue every few hours. Some one needs to invent a wonder drug that cures vapors tongue because it is truly heart breaking haha.

I'm so sorry - that totally sucks! Did you try Gatorade instead of water? And I got my best flavor of the past week after I had an iced coffee from Starbucks today. What did you vape? Maybe try switching juices so you're vaping a different one each day?

AK what ohms are you vapping at? For about a month I dropped to around .2ohm and I had the same experiences. I just jumped back up to around .5 ohms and its making a big difference. Also try making your airflow bigger.

I am making a few assumptions here so if they are wrong just ignore them. You said you started a little over a week ago and I see a mechanical in your avatar. It might just be a cool picture but if its your set up you might need to play around with it a bit more.
