Here's the Jumbo Popeye edited with picnik. The lil avatar makes it harder to see the LED glow. The smoke was a challenge but figured it out quick enough.

Leaford, I know. But it just looks better this way, trust me. the other way, the smoke was covering up the whole face and you couldn't see how discustingly cool my popeye avatar was.

At any rate, I'm really happy with it. I know it's something small and stupid, but it really makes me happy. been wanting something like that for a loooooooooong time.



edit... I made a typo in another forum, "different stokes for different folks". another person noticed, laughed and said this was going to be a new sig line.

I like it, so it's staying. I feel like a new vapper again.. new avatar, new sig.. 2012 here I come!

I don't know how old you are but when I was 10 or 12 back in the mid-sixties, I used to ride my bike up and down the runway of the Decatur, Illinois Airport. Every once in a while, the controller would scream at me to get off the runway as a plane was due to land. After the plane landed he would yell down that it was okay to go back out. I don't think there were any liability lawyers in Decatur back then and people let kids be kids.

I've bought the paper 3 days in a row now looking for the article. didn't see it, so I called the editor. apparently the story got pushed to this weekend, because they sell more papers then.

Don't think they have it on-line, I could be wrong. but when I get it, I can post a photo of it. for some reason, our facility manager didn't want our faces in the picture. So it should just be a picture of my back, looking out at a regional jet taking off the runway.

as for riding up and down the runway... good luck with that now a days! I'm 32, so that was a bit before my time. Dekatur is a small VFR contract tower though, so who knows what goes on there. FAA didn't start contracting till 1982 though, so who knows.

Yah, it's on the east side of town (on Mt Zion road across from the Decatur Country Club).

Go figure. Though I've never been in Decatur. I'm from Lake County (up by Great America), and my hubby is from Chicago.
