i am posting this here because i was uncomfortable with the way battery recommendations were worded. there are NO safe batteries period. no matter which batteries you use educate yourself!

Wow tib..................glad she wasn't hurt. Hard to tell but it looks like there are two batteries there. Did that happen because they were stacked?

i don't think so - this battery was in an indulgence, i believe it was an aw imr 18650. those are the safe chemistry batteries which were highly recommended here. i think that's what you bought for your thermo.

i just want everybody to realize that there could be a problem no matter which battery you use .....

Well that's enough to cause a little concern. I remember reading that someone puts all his batteries in a metal container at night. Maybe that isn't such a bad idea. I suppose you would have to make sure they weren't touching the metal though?

no idea, sky - but it looks like batteries should be taken out off mods whenever possible.

they're hoping the reason for this accident was a stuck switch. but it looks like if we're going to have a mod we need to invest in a voltage meter. overcharging or draining down too much can make a battery unstable.

it used to be so simple .........

Everything used to be so simple. And then we grew up.

How the heck are we supposed to know if it is draining down too far as we are using it? Wouldn't a "smart" charger prevent over charging?

that's where the voltage meter comes in ....... ;)

i can just see us all decked out with gadgets, lol

We will all be wearing armor like knights of old just in case a battery explodes. Insert the carto or atty in through a little hole in the face plate leaving the body outside. I suppose that would still hurt the mouth but minimize injury.

No more stealth vaping. The armor will give us away.

Maybe today. And if it still doesn't work............well, I don't know what I will do but it might involve some melting. :D

I am there with you. Perhaps these are just not meant for all people. My husband and my girlfriends LOVE theirs... me. I just get frustrated and envy them.

Thanks, Tib. I am OCD about cleaning. My equipment goes into the jewelry cleaner 1x per week and Im constantly hand cleaning the connection points throughout the day.
I am definitely sure it's the button connection side that is giving me issues, and not the top connector. The owner has been VERY helpful in trying to remedy the situation and has even gone above and beyond and sent me a free replacement a few weeks ago. Unfortunately, it's hit and miss as well.

I am undecided if I want to get some of that lube, stretch out the spring, or what at this point in my Sparkplug journey.
