I'm going to need another job just to support my vaping! Hopefully, my spending will slow down a little bit in the near future. I don't want to be without a part or juice in case something breaks, wears out or runs out before I have this vaping thing down as my new habit instead of smoking. On the other hand, all of my other spending is virtually nil because I spend all of my time on the interwebs looking at vaping products. I think the mall misses me. And the thrift store. And Walgreens. So maybe balance of the universe is being restored.

At what point did you slow down and become comfortable with your equipment purchases?

once i found the equipment and some flavors that work for me i stopped buying everything in sight. i have only spent equal to my cigs budget though. a budget is a budget after all. don't worry...what you are going through is normal. in short order the glow will be off and you will find you spend much less than cigs ever cost you. in the short term you are changing your life and that has no monetary value. think of it this way...a good pair of running shoes would cost you more than vapeing. if you were a runner the cost would be worthwhile. anything you do that improves your enjoyment of life is worth the cost.

I'm finished spending until probably around Christmas. Maybe then they will have more juice sales for the holidays. It was a whirlwind month. I've got enough juice and equipment to last a long while. I just wish I had gone straight to dripping before buying tanks, clearos, cartos first...would have saved a ton of money. I consider it a learning process. But a couple of Twists and atomizers and a variety of juices is all I need now.

I'm still working on that one Sharon, 2+years on. :D

Although saying that, I am slowing down now as I'm very happy with my set ups. If only I could
blinker myself to the latest vaping ' must have ' . . . I'd probably save some money.

But it's harmless enough, if you don't go into debt to feed your hobby and it's keeping you off
the ciggies. :)

The glow wears off? Really? Hasn't yet for me.....but I have GOT to stop hanging out here and getting ideas. No way I can afford it! However, the upside is that I really have settled on the equipment I like (X2, eGo, eGo Twist, kGo VV, Go-Go....yes I'd like a Provari but not possible for me on fixed disability income) I've experimented with nearly every tank system out there...done with those. Like large capacity cartomizers now like the EMSCC or Elite or Go-cart. No patience for dripping. Besides...my juice is pretty basic menthol. I now have my own DIY menthol recipe and that is ALL I vape. My costs for juice have dropped hugely. I'm thinking I probably don't pay more than around 4 or 5 cents per ml. now.

My problem now is still mostly in the hardware...batteries. I like the systems I've found, but they keep coming out with prettier, more decorated (etched? hammered copper? Ming??) and fancy things in colors and such. I feel compelled to get them ALL. Sigh.

Beyond replacement cartos, I have not spent a dime on vaping since February. I layed out about $500 for a provari and a big DIY setup.

Now, I'm tired of replacing a carto every week. I'm looking into a Phoenix rebuildable. The price has come way down.

You don't need the latest, greatest new thing to come out...especially if you are new to this. I'm glad I waited for the Provari V2. The first version had power issues. I let the folks with too much money do the testing on the new stuff.

I found the learning curve to be expensive, finding what works and then building a stock but once you have it in hand it is just a case of replacing your stock as you use it. The way I have been working it is I have 4 spare batteries plus the 2 I use on rotation, 3 spare rebuildable clearomisers and at last count 15 atomiser heads, every week I pop down tot he shop and buy another 2 if I have change in my pocket and then just get juice on line, total cost for me and my mum is about £50 a month all in now, with a stock of spares I'm not worried if I have a month or 2 where that money is needed elsewhere since I know I have enough to cover it.

We have a small shop here in STL and I have bought several juices that I liked in the store. But after a day or so, I'm not really digging some of them. I love chocolate but the chocolate liquids are just not cutting it so far. Watermelon is ok but not a lot of flavor. Cinnamon and grape are really strong to me, but I am preferring the cinnamon right now and have been on it for 4 days. I haven't found my go-to liquid yet other than the cinnamon and I'm getting tired of it. I have one tobacco flavor and I use that to cut my cinnamon a bit. I am loving my set up(eGo C with clearomizer) now I just need to find my flavor.

I got my first order in the mail on 8-11. I put in about 5 orders total for $350 spprox. I have batteries 2 big and 5 . Juice in three nic levels and different flavors including several 30 ml bottles, cartos, clearos, CE3s, a PCC, a carrying case that should get here and a car battery charger for my batteries. Yeah, that's a boatload of stuff and I am done for now.

I went into overkill when I figured out that vaping really has got me to consider quitting. I mean, I was down by half of my smokes without even trying. Yeah!!! We are going on a hunting/camping trip and I wanted to try to vape the whole time so I wanted lots of batteries and options for keeping them charged. And lots of cartos and CE3s so I could pretty much prefill and have them available and not try to do a bunch of refilling on the road.

The good news is that I now smoke less than half what I used and still going down. I have no cigs in the house and haven't had the urge to go buy a pack yet today. I probably will later but that is my way of quitting. Getting everything set up the way I like it while cutting back and having it feel natural. I did have to encourage myself to cut back to less than half but it wasn't horrible.

I'm done for the forseeable future and should have everything I need through Thanksgiving.

Depending on what your spending habits are this can be incredibly cheap compared to cigarettes. I have more vaping devices than I need, I have more juice than I can vape. But, I have plans for MORE! Who cares as long as it's not a cig at this point. Seriously though, I doubt if you count up the cost compared to smoking, I have probably spent less overall, but whos keeping track. VAPE ON!

I'm trying to keep my purchasing slow or less than my cigarette budget was to get started. I went through a few different things to get started that I just didnt like, or battery didnt last me long, etc.

I didnt get a lot of atomizers/cartomizers to start. Probably a good thing. I hated dripping factory attys, and I'm not crazy about cartos. I may very well get a couple boxes of backup cartos, but otherwise am going rebuildable once I get the funds together. It takes time. Then some backup egos. I almost had a meltdown yesterday when I realized I didnt charge either of my twists.(I survived!)
Maybe for Christmas I'll ask for something fancy. But hoping to stick to juices

Q: At what point did you slow down and become comfortable with your equipment purchases?
A: Not there yet.

But! I did some rudimentary math and check this out - I'm still coming out ahead! Well, not really.

Basically I'm about $300 bucks into it so far (it's been 4 weeks) and since I could never admit to myself that I actually was a SMOKER and needed to buy LOTS of cigarettes I only bought 2 packs at a time at the local convenience store and a considerable price premium. Talk about delusional :) So add that to the gas to drive there, every. freakin. day. PLUS the cost of the soda and chips and whatever PLUS the cost of the kids soda and chips and whatever. So not ahead, but not too bad.

I should be good with what I've got coming for another month or so, then I -might- try something ego-ish. Or not. If I love the Volt I might just get an extra battery and then it's just the replaceables. Or not :)
