Will try it with a few other coils once my tongue repairs itself... Can't seem to taste the flavors now :p

Thank you :)

But that brings me to another question that i asked previously on this thread too...
While using RDAs, considering how there's no chimney do people get a lot of spitback?
I hope you get what i mean here.
I haven't tried it yet... But my order is coming in soon so that got me wondering about it.

I mainly use RDA's and if you don't put enough cotton in the coils you will get spit back. If the coils are pack tight with cotton, no spit back.

But then again if it's too tight then the liquid won't get absorbed fast enough that'll cause a dry hit. Right?

That's correct. You have to find the happy medium. Only trial, error and experience will get it right. After you have done a handful of them you will learn how much cotton to use then it's second nature to grab exactly how much you need. I use larger RDA's (27mm the smallest), I use 4mm ID coils and KGD cotton. I get a pad and I will use a whole pad on 2 coils. I pull the outside sheets off the pad, stretch it to loosen up the fibers to make it wick better then cut it in half. Roll the 2 halves up and wick coils. Take a sharp pair of tweezers to thin out the tails, cut to length and tuck tails in RDA, juice and hit it a couple times on a regulated mod at 80W-90W to break it in then stick it on my mech and vape away.

Should the wick touch the bottom? I've seen very different opinions about this one. Some say leave it half way, some say should touch and even then a little extra should be there.
What do you think?

I cut my wicks so they touch the deck and a tad more. It holds more juice so IMO I don't have to drip as often than I would if I left the tail just touching the deck.

Is it the same with other rebuildables as well? Rta? Rdta?
I know this stuff can be a little subjective. But as i have mentioned time and again. Personal experience is invaluable.

If you ask 10 people on here what they do and I bet you will get 7-10 different answers. Like you said it's all subjective. I don't use many RTA's but the one I use the most is the Voltrove. It's a big beast (41mm and holds 20+ml of juice). On it I wick it the same as I do my RDA's but I leave a little more of the cotton tails in order to fold them over so they are able to block the juice holes on the deck. it's a bit of a different juice flow style than on other RTA's. if you have time watch a YouTube review on it and you will see what I'm talking about on the deck and the juice flow.

Will do :)
Thank you for your inputs. Now i know where to start the hit and trial if nothing else.
Happy vaping :)

I'm getting ready to change these, see how close they are to the outside rim of the deck, if you don't put them too close to the center, spit back won't happen.

Proper air flow makes all the difference in the world :)

Wicking is trial and error... :)

So the center part should be as empty as possible? And on the outside near the airflow holes it should be packed up?
Is that it?

Also... I know that you're a long time vaper but i see you have a very basic coil setup. May i ask why?
I mean i am of the opinion that the more complex a coil is the better the quality of the vape.
Am i missing something here?
Sorry if it's very clear and I'm just being stupid.
:)
Edit - i should mention my opinion is only based on what i have seen and heard. I haven't started building yet.

Line the air holes up in front of the coils.

My simple builds :D
I've tried all of the cool coils, they don't always work well for single battery mech mod users ;)
Some coils take way too long to heat up, I ain't got time for that :p when I press the button and inhale it works instantly, not 20 secs later :)
Most of my builds are between .28-.38 with either 24g or 26g kanthal, I'm stubborn and don't like change
So I stick with what works best for me

I hope you can understand my obsession (so to say) with the complex coils without having tried any, they just look so good. I don't even know the names of most of them. [emoji14]
But i admire the work that must go into building one such coil.
Anyways, I see your point.
How those complex builds can have crazy ramp up times.
But i still don't get why people use unregulated mods?
They're just delivering the current right? A regulated mod can do the same thing no?
Maybe it'll need 2 batteries instead of one because of the chipset and the safety features or whatever to get to that wattage.
Is there some advantage to using mechs?
Except the fact they look so cool. Specially the one @badninja posted... The complyfe hk knurled... I'm in love with that one. I'd order one right now if i knew anything about mechs or building or even vaping for that matter [emoji14]

How many regulated mods can you take completely apart and clean them, put them back together and make them work as well or better than they did when you got them?
You can do the with a mech mod :)
I'll let ya know when you've learned enough to move up to a mech mod, Grasshopper :)

I was like you interested in exotic coils and I started learning and building them. The ones I like the best are the alien and the staggered fused clapton. The problem with them is the more wire that has to heat up the longer the ramp up time. I'm just like Kprthevap, K.I.S.S. I use mainly 22g SS around a 4mm. I'm right around .1-.15.

I'm not sure why I like the mechs and unregulated more. I do know that I don't have the boards and electronics that can break as on regulated mods. When the FDA gets rid of everything that has to do with vaping and the people that have regulated mods have issues with them breaking or the boards going out they don't have anything to vape on so they will be out of the game and the people who have unregulated and mechs will still be vaping.

They do vape the same u tip the batteries start to die. As the batteries drain the wattage drops. When you are familiar with the way a charged cell and a weak cell Vapes you will know when to change out cells. All of my mechs and unregulated boxes are dual or triple 18650's. I have a quad 18650 sled on its way so I can build a quad series mod. I build my own mods so I know how they work, what's in them and if they end up breaking somehow I will know how to fix them. I only have 2 tube mods, 1 single 18659 and the other is a stacked 18650. I like my box mods better.

The thing that you need to get familiar with ohms law and battery safety. 99% of the news you see about mods blowing up in people's faces are people building coils for their mechs and not familiar with ohms law, battery safety and didn't know how to build coils to stay in the safety range for their battery amperage on a mech. Make sure you KNOW ohms law and how it works before you get into mechs or unregulated mods.

Fair point. But lemme ask you this.
Not as a counter to your response but just a question :)
Why would i wanna open and clean a regulated mod and how would that affect the performance in any way?
Firstly there's not much open space anyway so the dirt can't enter it. Then even if it does...how does that affect anything?
Please don't think I'm countering you. Just asking politely. :)

Lol. Thanks [emoji14] *chirps like a grasshopper*

Yes i can see why ramp up time would be a problem. Makes sense to keep it relatively simpler.

Also can i say this, I don't live in the US or any western country that fda has control over. But i think people are over hyping the seriousness of the situation.
I don't think that they can completely ban a product that has such a huge market, I don't think they can get even close to making something like this possible.
I know about what happened in Europe about the capacity of the E-liquid bottles. But there are ways to easily work around that.
So tell me this... Why are people exaggerating it upto this extent?
Do you really actually think that such a huge market can be shut down?
Again, no offense meant :). Just trying to understand the situation.

Oh and about the ohms law, I think i have a good handle on that. Considering how I've been taught to use that in school since i was like 13 years old. And i have used it plenty in my science labs to say that i can calculate it without even having to think about it. But I agree that one must be absolutely sure because a small mistake can be a pretty big deal in this case.

A regulated mod *can* get full of liquid if you use any bottom air toppers. So sometimes they do need cleaning. So if I use a bottom air RDA/RBA I use a tube mod (Provari) instead of a box mod.

With fancy coils, the more wire that is stuffed in there the more power it takes to make them work.
I use simple single wire coils. That way there is no ramp up time involved.

Absolutely! Next year EVERY product now on the market becomes illegal to sell, and ALL products will need to go through the process of being FDA approved at a cost of close to a million dollars/product.
    (most will never get approved)

    Add:
    Hint!
I will need to replenish my vaping supplies when I turn 126 years old. ;)

Wow. I wasn't aware that it has already been finalized.
But i don't understand. On what grounds is fda doing this?
Vaping has done nothing but help people get their lives back in control to some extent atleast.
I'm sorry i don't know this but is there any document that states what's legal and what's not? Or what's acceptable and what's not?
And frankly if anything should be banned, shouldn't it be the unregulated stuff? Considering that the regulated stuff has more safety features?
Also is this happening only in the US?
