No pics, no need for them. I just wanted to say that I've been using the spring mod with the straw mod for about a week now, and it's AMAZING.

I have a 901, and the carts are...less than whelming, for time between refills.
The straw mod (ran this by itself for a say or two) made a difference in filling up a dry cart, but did nothing for actually keeping the tip saturated.

I actually disliked the spring mod by itself (tried this one for a day). I found it very hard to get the wicking well wrapped into the spring. Had a nice dense tuft at the business end, and mostly hollow the length of the spring. Side effect of this was a lot of leaking...not great.

Now I'm running the spring mod, actually half wrapped as before. I make sure the loose wicking is against one sidewall of the cart, then I add the straw mod to the opposite wall. This seems to have cut down leaking significantly.

I assume the empty area in the spring is acting as a reservoir, that by having less wicking the juice isn't stagnating (for lack of a better word) at the back and never making it to the front. I now get 7 drops every refill, not the one or two that I had gotten before (with OR without the straw). I'm getting MUCH more time between refills, as well.

Kudos to the originators of both mods! Combined, they are a HUGE improvement to my 901 vaping!

OK Here it is in a nut shell...
Spring with filler material spun inside and around the top 1/3 of the spring. Cut the spring down so it keeps the filler at the top of the cart. This creates a void under the filler material. Then, half of a coffee stir stick down the side to allow air to get in. Other wise it will be just like a straw with your finger on the top. What this does is allows the liquid to leak down to the part of the filler that touches the atty. What happens is wicking of most all of the liquid.
Before trying this trick I did the tea bag (no change), the spring alone (no change), the straw alone(no change). But combine the spring and straw and bam almost triple the number of drops to top off. I get almost 20 puffs between top offs..And it takes 6 or 8 drops to top off now...... Nice... Very nice... I don't like RY4 w/plastic but RY4 is great by itself.
If I get a little dry taste I just flick it and it is like dripping. Works like a champ..
I have been doing this for about four days now.
I have only tried it on my 901 and 510. Next is the 801.

We really need a good solution to the 801 cart. It is a monster as far as capacity goes (can hold over 1cc of liquid w/o filling), the big issue is getting the bottom half of the filler to dry out. I've been trying all sorts of things and am starting to get to the end of my rope, and seriously considering switching to dripping only, to reduce a lot of the hassle involved. I just hate to babysit my PV so much, makes me seem like a fiend 8-o

I really think I DID. All day at work today I only had to top off twice. And each time it took 8 drops. I was just so darn thrilled. I am just so happy to have read the spring trick post. That was the one that got the wheels turning. It is that void under the filler that keeps everything wet. It would not work without the straw though. I was thinking "it is like a straw with your finger on top. I just need to get air in there somehow and a light went on in my head A STRAW." I can literally hit it 20-30 times and get good flavor each time. Big improvement over the 4 or so before any mods.

10 days on the same cart. No burning at all because it always stays wet. I always get at least 8 - 10 drops to top it off.
Just an update to my previous posts.
Still going strong. I have not had to mess with that cart at all. Only to top it off. Each time I pull it off it looks the same.
I will update this as time goes along. But all in all I am real happy with this design.
