Why yes, sir it does, I've a good mind to run down to my mailbox in about 3 days and peek in there to see if you sent it just that fast!

Sorry pdib, but I don't have any.

Wife says my vaping budget is closed for a while so I will have to put a little more cash in my PayPal tomorrow to order a strip.

Come to think of it a PO box would be handy too.

Oh, no no. Don't go ordering a strip. I thought you had some laying around.

Figures. Whenever I come around something groundbreaking has come by. I'm staying here, on the REO forum, for good this time. I'll check in every day, I swear!

Now tomorrow after work I'm going to Autozone and to Lowes. Also to see if I can get one of those cheap HDMI cables from Best buy to take one of the caps off. Brass shim/firing pin fix can come later, but this fuse is too good to pass up. Props to all involved.

This fuse thing is such a good modification but it is the fuse holder that is the pig to overcome.

It has such stiff competition from the stock spring regarding ease of battery install / removal and reliability of firm consistant contact.

Keep chipping away guys as I am sure all the hard work you are putting in will all of a sudden come to fruition.

Xobe, your HDMI idea is yet another great step in the evolution process.

Would there be any mileage in trying to combine the fuse with a no resistance spring (if such a thing exists) although I would think space is a major hurdle. Just throwing this out there for elimination.

For me, it all depends on how well I bend/shape my fuse. The blue one that I did as a bending sample is a perfect fit. I'm good to go. Don't hesitate, folks, to waste a few 70¢ fuses developing some technique and figuring out what works. Other than that, yes, let the pursuit of the holy grail of fuse holders continues. (FIMO clay)

ADDIT: you know, what I did, that I'm not seeing anyone mention doing, is that I bent it to be too thick, then filed the legs, checked, filed, checked, and filed it into perfect (so to speak) shape and thickness. still, only took <5 min.

also, don't underestimate the power of the little sticky nubbin' (furniture bumper, felt, the little rubber clear stick-on bumpers)

I'm now thinking how I can improve the bottom of my button :) what if the firing pin had a hole in it and the bottom of the button was brass / copper / metal of some sort that passed thru the hole (to contact the battery nipple directly) but had a rim around it that contacted the surface of the pin when you pressed down to flow the charge thru to the 510?

When someone contacted me a few months back about arcing I had something similar in mind. With the light engines I used to build for flashlights I would always add brass tabs in place of solder blobs for the battery contact. The idea I had was similar except my idea was to machine a brass tab & solder it to the bottom of the firing pin. That is until I figured out the firing pin was stainless steel so that was the end of that at that time.

Not sure if there's enough room to do your idea without shortening the delrin button. But if your willing to try I'll machine one up for you.

i got 5 fuses and would happily buy loads more to experiment.

I did get a nice snug fit on the second attempt but i feel that after 5, 10, or more battery removals the snug fit will be no longer necessitating further tweaking.

I think the fuse holder will take many many man thought hours. How about a non conductive spring (again if such a thing exists) with top and bottom plates connected by some 10amp fuse wire.

What if on the Bottom fuse holder we use some modeling clay, and while the clay is soft and maliable form it to make the perfect fit, and make screw holes for the top and bottom contact like pdib and XO did. Looks like im going to the hobby store tonight.

UKPaul, Another user (ChrisEU) did almost that exact same thing, he kept the stock spring in there and used a fuse that had long thin legs to electrically bypass the spring yet still have the battery fit with the spring.

Wow Deezy, I am excited to see what you come up with!

I can see potential in the modelling clay theme Seanap.

What if you sunk some threaded collars or nuts in the clay to accept the screw threads ?

Ok, I'll wait until I get some leeway from the other half on that.
Kinda wanted to try that finger stuff myself.
Should be around 60 to 70 fingers on one piece so cost per finger would be very low.

Well, I certainly would love to play with that material. At least to see what it has to offer. (I have heard elsewhere too that it seems ideal for our applications)

I would suggest using some epoxy, there are epoxies that mix up like modeling clay yet get rock hard in like 10 minutes, jb weld makes one called steel stick, they come in a tube, you just cut a slice off, kneed it together as the hardener is in the center, then position it and let it harden. once hardened it can be sanded, filed and machined too, it can even be drilled and tapped if you are so inclined and of course it is non conductive when cured

yes, you can even make a monkey out of it, but a very stiff monkey :) you can make a whole barrel of monkeys and hang them all up too :) I love this epoxy, always have some on hand and use it for so many things, it's a great tool, hell if you were so inclined you could actually make a whole mod from it but would get a bit expensive to use that much :)
