Is this happening with anybody else? The button on my SS is getting really hot both w/ a spring and w/out a spring? It's just the button that gets hot -- nothing else.

Its a short from a bad atomizer wig. Change atomizer and change batteries too. Also dont screw hard the telescope so center pole of atomizer will not be pushed hard from the center pole of GGTS

Yeah Imeo is pretty firm in recommending not to use conductive compounds. I do know some though such as dspin that use a small touch in the right places to enhance performance. I think the difference there is that Imeo has to take into account those that don't know the upside nor the pitfalls of improperly applied conductive compounds in the wrong areas versus veterans like many on the GG forums that do like dspin and others that do.

Good question on that product Ata. It would be nice if there was something that maintained a protective surface on areas like the spring. Sure would cut down on maintenance for folks on the go. Or old goats like me that have dexterity issues. I love the maintenance itself as I have the time. It does get frustrating sometimes having to chase down a flying magnet from the button tube though!

In my limted experience, they do require less maintenance. But while there are fewer points of contact to need cleaning, some don't prefer the feel of magnet upgrade. I personally love it but it does make the button activation noticeabley lighter

+1

I have the magnet upgrade installed on one of my SS GGTS buttons and it is definately much lighter activation. I prefer the spring's feel. Performance has seemed to be about the same for me.

Hey Major,

Do buttons with the magnet upgrade installed require less maintenance?

Thanks.

when I had an ally ggts I had the magnets in it, I did not really know what I was doing but I had misfires all the time, since then I have read that the magnets get dirty or collect particles and cause a misfire but as long as they are clean most people are happy with them, I also do not like how light the press is on them, I am pretty sure that the newer switch can only hold 2 magnets where as the old style could use three for a stiffer press. We need some rhodium plated springs ;)

That's a shame. Next time put a cloth around it. We should all tell Imeo not to tighten them down like that. He didn't use to until some people complained that the button would unscrew sometimes when locking. I say let those people tighten them down w/pliers themselves and just finger tighten for the rest of us. Just my 2 cents. - Reason - my button on my newest GGTS will not come off. I will have to use pliers when need arises.

So I was also having this, but thought it was normal, decided to take the switch out and clean it, for the life of me I couldn't get the thing out so had to use some needle nose pliers, dontcha know I scratched the precious... Cleaned the button and not noticing any heat now but damn...

Agreed dspin for sure. My TMF button was on very tight. I was able to put the locking collar in the "locked" position well enough though to use a metric 10mm socket and get it loose without having to use pliars. After getting it off the tube, I then used the 10mm and the 5mm on the contact end to take it apart for cleaning and such.

Button has polygonal head and base so you can unscrew it easily with 2 polygonal tools, 1 per side of the button Sku.

My TMF edition doesn't need cleaning yet. Why you ask?? Hardly use it. The other two yes, but the newer one only stays at home and relagated to Monday's only (my day off) Can't stand the idea of scratching it.
