Has anyone tried stainless steel wool for use as fill?

Actually assuming it isn't treated with anything it might be great, some people have mentioned that steel or brass netting works fairly well as a polyfill and wicks properly, but I'd be quite curious to see how steel wool plays out.

Very interesting! Let us know how it works. If you taste metal, I wouldn't use it, although perhaps it can be washed first before filling a cart. If it does work, it might be a good filler for HV models, which tend to melt the common filler materials. Of course, if it contacts the coil it might become a coil itself! 8-o

The only thing to worry about is a strand of steel working its way down to the atty coil and shorting it out.

Just curious if anyone has actualy tried stainless steel wool? I saw some on e-Bay for 10 bucks but wanted to see if anyone had good or bad results.

I got a blue foam hit the other day that knocked my head back.

After that I decided that there has to be a better material for carts.

I have a lot of luck with different types of stainless wire filled plugs. No bad taste at all, and minimal leakage. The trick is to get the right density in a sort of cap or plug. I'm using these plastic snap in led holders from radioshack right now, but they don't work with all carts. I stuff the plug with stainless wire and put it on a cheap copy of a 510 cart. The true 510 carts with the ledge don't quite fit though. To help with leakage I wrap the plug with rescue tape also.
