Just up and died on me this morning while vaping. all batteries do the blinks now when pressing so I'm assuming it went open coil. pretty depressing as I was enjoying it. hadn't even used it all that much.

Awww, my condolences rob. :( Hey, is that the same one you first started using?

Theres a russian video showing how to make/install a new coil in one of the other threads here

you have the link or something? I never saw something like that, although I haven't even tried taking the cup seal off due to the tight quarters.

man, that seems tricky tricky. I'd be interested in seeing that too.

Hi Rob,

I don't know you, so please excuse the question, not meant to be insulting...DUDE, have you got a multimeter? I fried 3 eGos before I bought one, best money i ever spent. They have them at RadioShack for a few dollars more if you don't want to wait for an online order.
Also, have you checked the post on the SD? Get a small eyeglass minus screwdriver and try lifting it a bit going around it.
Again, not trying to insult, just my :2c:

The links are a little whacky for some reason. If you click on his name at the corner of the video you can see his other videos and find the second part. Its called e-turbo and you will see the video thumbnail pic of the shaft with a thick wick in it

I edited the links in the other posting to reflect correct videos

Wow, just wow. Thanks for the links Tom!

This device just gets better and better. So what we have here is a solder-less, rebuild-able atty in a tank!

I have two of these that has started to flood. Interestingly, both have been being used on my VV mod at 4.5v with primarily 60PG/40VG DIY juice. The spousal unit has had the same one going for the same amount of time on unregulated eGo's and there is still no flooding on hers vaping 100PG juice.

Now that I know I can rebuild this puppy, I'm going to dissect one soon to see what has degraded on the two leakers. Hoping that I've simply worn out the wicks which is letting in to much juice. So long as overclocking them hasn't deformed that inner silicone insulator shown in the video, it should be good as new with new wicks. Could also be that I've been using a 510 extender, rather than an 510-eGo adapter. Kind of unstable on that extender so I may have worked the post loose or something. Going back to the eGo adapter so we'll see how that does.

One thing that I won't do is leave the wicks uncut. I do believe that having the end of the wick so close to the coil is the secret to the superb wicking that the SD has. Speaking of wicking, in honor of the 100ml bottle of Boba's Bounty that came in the mail today, this thick VG juice thinned slightly with 5% bourbon (thanks to Kevin for that tip) is vaping beautifully in this freshly opened Stardust I'm enjoying now.

and i wonder why i quickly moved away from ego type batteries... i never had anything but problems with them. ever since i got my provari i have never popped a coil. with the ego's i used to pop a few here and there( a few ce2's and a few drip atties) and melted 2 of the batteries. i was gone and done with ego's in 2 months time... the circuitry is garbage. sd number one is going on 50 fills now and 10 dry burns. still going strong, and in february i will be done with china completely(cept batteries) when i get my zenesis

i'm assuming that video is in russian, didn't have the speakers hooked up when i watched it, but figured i wouldn't understand the audio anyway. where do you get the coil to redo? are they using the coil wire they took out of the used one?

can't wait to get mine.... 225 bucks but it will be worth it.... no conector, no button, no wires, surgical stainless steel, magnetic switch(whole mod, tank, and atty all rolled into one)... should last longer than me, o and no springs either. average cost monthly for rebuilding....about a dollar. all parts cept batteries are china free :)
