Its possible that you vaped pretty hard and dried out your respiratory tract which will make it sensitive to everything. Pollen, smoke, vape, pollution, everything. If you have a dry throat chances are the mucus is non exsistent and that can cause caughing and sneezing.

I actuaaly have a dry throat/nose and no matter how much i drink my body isnt producing mucus (im sick, it probably all in my sinus)

This all started cos i was dripping high nic since its all i had and just over did it.

As suggested before put the 1 ohm head in and turn down the watts if you can. If its better your on the right track but i doubt it will completely stop you sound like your already provoked your allergies
Sounds like a pretty reasonable explanation. Thank you!

The Ego One can only go up to 1 ohm on the pre-built coils. They have a new rebuildable coil that might let you go higher, but you would have to learn to rebuild. I would stick to the 1 ohm coil for now, and if you wanted to try different juices I would try a higher PG juice and also pick up a 3mg juice in case the nicotine is being too harsh on you as I've read the Ego one gives some nice vapor even with the 1 ohm coil. Good luck!
Rebuilding definitely sounds over my head at this point. I will try that with the juice. I had considered the nicotine level too as I'm pretty sure most of the ones I tested (which I didn't seem to have a problem with at the time) were 3 mg.

You guys have given a lot of great advice. Thank you to everyone who took the time to respond!

I got the eGo One. It has two fuses/coils/whatever they are called -- 0.5 ohm and 1.0 ohm. No adjustable wattage that I know of. No worries about the first reply. Down here in NC we have been in allergy season for over a month but I'm sure most of the country is just getting there now so allergies are sure to be on everyone's mind.

I figure that if I get back to feeling 100% and revert to symptoms when I start again that I will need to look into a different juice. I'll look for a more even split with a different flavor. Thanks for the suggestion!

You very well could be sick what part of nc are you from? I'm in kinston which is about an hour east of Raleigh and there has been an awful bug going around that I myself am just getting over. It's all those symptoms you described too...

I'm over near Charlotte. Haven't seen anything like that going around here and not currently working with any patients who have respiratory infections.... But stranger things have happened.

1. First off you got an excellent starter device, maybe too good for phase I. Take small puffs into your mouth and then slowly inhale. Your lungs are full of crap from smoking. It takes time and you can mix it up with a cig if you have to but I promise once you switch, one month later the cig would choke you.

2. Drink plenty of water applies when you start hitting it like a mac truck. Most people don't drink 8 glasses per day like they should so just stay in that limit for now at the least.

3. Different juices and vendors (shops) can be harsh or peppery. I would strongly get something known for being smooth, maybe even sweet to start with and don't just stick to one brand. I am new and there is still some "popular" stuff that burns my nose and not all 18MG burns your nose, it depends on the base mix quality and or desired effect by the vendor.

Example for me.

Nicoticket - Tobacco blend Wakonda burns to me @ 18MG
Baker White's Havanna Cigar or Rocky Mountain Vapor DK4 Tobacco blend @18 MG I suck down like a vacuum cleaner
Any Menthol, mint etc. was nasty because I did not smoke menthol unless I was sick (when I am sick I will probably vape that)

Good luck buddy and when I started I had a 7 day phase where I thought I had a bladder infection and pee'd like crazy. It passed thankfully. Perhaps just my body dumping toxins?

All other possibilities aside, I think you may have diagnosed yourself properly to begin with - some people can do that really well, some can't...

Anyway, from what you describe, you COULD have an allergy to PG, or to VG or to some flavoring in the juice you were vaping.

Unfortunately, there's no way to tell other than process of elimination.
You could get some HIGH VG liquid - like 80%, and see if that's better or worse (you'll need to be sure your topper can WICK juice that thick). If it's worse, then go the other way...

GOOD LUCK - Hopefully you figure it out and can be happily vaping soon!!

When I first quit and started vaping I had all kinds of stuff happening, swollen throat, tender gums, headaches, blah blah blah. Part of it was just vaping, part was quitting cigarettes, part turned out to be PG, Im allergic to it to a degree. Not so bad to where I cant vape anything with it in there, but it does irritate the hell out of my throat the more there is. Another thing too was the nic base, some companies use harsh or cheap nic or arent filtering it well, I dunno, but there are few companies that I can buy from to this day that dont have that effect where my throat swells up. Id say if youre subohming, stop. Its like coming out of a month long coma and eating a huge feast, take baby steps. I just started subohming 2 years into it and even then it took a while to adjust. Also when I started I was using 18 and 12mg, because I was smoking a pack and a half a day and thats what people told me would satiate my habit at that level. turned out 6mg was fine and I eventually went to 3mg after a year and thats been perfectly fine.

If I had to guess, I'd say it was the higher vg in the juice
(I'd try 50/50 next time) or possibly some of the flavorings
are giving you a hard time.

I agree with this ^^^ I too have seasonal allergies and find that high VG juice makes me congested and feel allergy type symptoms. I used the process of elimination to find what the culprit was. 100% VG juice, 100% PG juice and unflavored. I do find that I am very sensitive to some flavors. Citrus type flavors will give me a horribly sore throat and tongue.

Hang in there and Good luck to you.

Don't know if you've seen this: A list of symptoms when quitting tobacco and changing to an ecigarette | E-Cigarette Forum
Not sure how much will apply to you at this moment, but may come in handy for future reference.

Sore throat, sinuses and coughing are pretty common when you start vaping. You're introducing moisture into your system in a way that it wasn't getting before. And with 0.5Ω and 70%VG, it must've been massive clouds of moisture. Plus it's a "new toy," so you probably wanted to just play with it all night long. Don't remember all the details now, but I think there's something in the vapor (PG maybe?) that loosens up the gunk in your lungs that your body is compelled to get out, and the only exit way is up, in the form of mucus or phlegm. So I don't think you're allergic to anything - I think you maybe just had too much too fast.

Good that you're hydrating - here's an article on that: Vaping Dehydration Dilemma - What Can You Do? - Spinfuel eMagazine

Hello again, everybody. I wanted to drop back by and thank everyone again for the input you gave me! It's been a week and I have come to the conclusion that I was sick -- which was likely a combination of my immune system fighting something off already in addition to overdoing it and drying myself out completely. I have not touched my eGo since until today. I really wanted to take the time to make sure I was feeling as well as possible before jumping back in. It's still super early but so far so good. Wish me luck -- I'll keep you updated!

Sounds like we had similar allergies. when i smoked i would be sick for 1 week plus and even coulndt smoke for maybe 2 of those days. Since vaping i dont get respiritory related sickness anywhere near as much and when i do its usually 4 days max. The days im really bad i can still vape but not as much normal. E.g this time i had to drop down to 1mg nic 100% vg otherwise i would cough. This was for less then 1 day. I had a chest infection
