Starting on "e cigs" ... did you just switch in a day ????

I have noticed on here that a lot of members say they are still smoking analogues albeit only a few a day ...... Is it that hard to "walk Away" ???? .... I decided on 20th March to give up & bought my first E Cig.

I had just bought a pack of 20 analogues they are still in my desk drawer unopened .................... to be fair I had Quit before way back in 1980 (when my daughter was born) .. didn't smoke at all until 2004 & running my own HVCA Business soon had me smoking at least 25 a day.

As I said I quit the analogues on 20th March, my Wife (Marie) had a Cardiac Arrest on the 14th March & was put on Life support (Nothing whatsoever to do with me smoking... a "Doctor" decided to put her on other meds for her COPD & did not ask nor impart the important info that People with (or who have Family members) who suffer from Heart "Problems" should not take this particular med.

Hence 14 days after starting on the meds she had the first of 6 Cardiac Arrests........ with her COPD I had "Removed myself" from smoking in the House & started smoking in the Garage ...... But of course Marie now needs 24/7 attention I cannot "just Pop out fer a Cig".......So off I went to the Internet & sourced a E Cig supplier ...... Charged the Battery... filled the tank... & Off I went ..

NEVER LOOKED BACK SINCE ....... so, how hard did YOU find the "switch" ......Easy??.... Not that bad??..... Hard??... Still trying??

Post your "Efforts" in here ....

I believe everyone is different. I supplemented my smoking with vaping to figure out if it was going to work or not. Once I made that determination (after a month) switching to vaping exclusively was very easy.

That said, I made my own cigarettes for years and I used pipe tobacco because it was cheap. Pipe tobacco doesn't have all of the additives that cigarettes do that react with the nicotine to enhance nicotine's effect. I surmise that had I still been smoking name brand cigarettes at the time I decided to switch I may have had a much harder time of it.

First off. My condolences on your wife's condition. You are both in my prayers. I seen here both ways on vaping and smoking or just vaping from the word go. I actually quit years ago but had been using nicotine lozenge since. Vaping is cheaper and much more enjoyable. I'm slowly cutting down the nicotine level. I'm down to 10 or 12. Looking to get down to 4 to 6 Mg.

I had smoked for 35 years, mostly a pack per day. I had tried the patch, gum, Welbutrin, and hypnosis twice. Nothing worked.

I got my first vaping setup collected and picked out a date. My plan was to vape as frequently and as much as I desired. If I got a cigarette craving, I would vape even more frequently. If that didn't work, I would allow myself HALF of a cigarette, and save the rest. Repeat the plan as needed.

I used probably 3 - 4 complete cigs a day for that week. As the week wore on, I noticed I didn't require the half a cigarette, and they were beginning to taste pretty poor. I was beginning to prefer vaping. At the end of the week when my last pack was finished, so was I. I haven't touched or wanted a cigarette since.

14 months later I have continued to be smoke free. Nicotine strength has been reduced from 24mg to 12 mg.

It is different for everybody, but since you asked for specifics, I threw out half a pack of smokes the day I walked out of the Local Shop where I purchased my first starter kit. I haven't lit one up since. It's only been about 6 weeks, and it has been challenging at times.

I too send my thoughts and prayers to you and your family and wish you luck making the switch.

I had no intentions of ever quitting when i started vaping.. if it resulted in me quitting great.. if not.. i tried. I cut back from 30 to 10 in the first week and by week 3 was down to 2 a day.. i honestly couldn't believe it..

It took a couple of months to give them up completely .. i kept the last pack sitting out for a good 2 weeks after i finally quit.. hard to say goodbye i guess.

This is pretty much my story. I started out making an effort to replace a stinkie here and there with some vaping. Within a week I found myself reaching for my PV more and more. I went down to 5 cigs a day 2 after getting out of bed and one after each meal. This continued untill I ran out of tobacco and went to all vaping.

About 2 months into vaping I did back slide after my grandmother passed away. I bought a pound of tobacco and was a chimney for about 2 weeks. After I ran out of tobacco again switching back to vaping was a real easy transition that time.

Awww cheers Guys that above means soooo much THANK YOU .... I think for me personally its been made easier to give up the analogues due to Marie's (wifes) condition ... she has bin diagnosed with LQTS (her heart does not "re-charge" itself after each beat) caused by that IDIOT doctor but hey ... That a story for another time, Another Place .......

Marie has a PCD in her chest now (Pacemaker/Cardiac Defibrillator) if her heart does not beat or beats irregularly (arrhythmia) it "kicks in" & shocks it back to its "proper" beat .. (like them scenes from Greys Anatomy where they get the "paddles" out & shout "charge to 200 Joules ............CLEAR")..

I think having that on my mind made me focus more on Marie than the Analogues & before you (or I) knew it, 3 MONTHS have passed & here I am "Smoke Free".....

HELL OF WAY TO GIVE UP THOUGH ...can't see em advertising THAT WAY on TV can you !!!???!!! ..... I think I would have given up on the analogues in time myself though .... standing in the garage in the middle of an English Winter had my Balls lookin like a couple of WALNUTS ...... NOT GOOD ... NOT GOOD AT ALL!!!!

I 'kinda' quit smoking the first day. Had 10 cigs left in a pack and lit 8 of them up out of habit, not thinking about my new PV setup. Didn't finish any of those 8 analogs and there's still 2 in that pack. Think I'm day 86 now.

In a nutshell it was easy to make the switch for me.

My wife suggested e-cigs to me, which I really didn't know about, so didn't have high hopes for them, how wrong I was.

We started on walgreen disposable blu/infinity e-cigs, and for the 2 weeks we was on them, we was still smoking a few cigs a day, but once we got our proper e-cigs and had them fully charged, we never touched another analog, can't believe how easy it has been, we started on the proper e-cigs 3 months ago, and neither of us have touched a real cig. I've only craved a real cig once, and that feeling went fast once hit my e-cig a few times.

I had smoked for 25 years and tried many times to give up, thought I would never achieve giving up, and had given up trying to give up, only agreed to e-cigs to support my wife, now wish I had tried e-cigs many years ago.

To me, smoking is boring to me, choice of normal or menthol, yet with e-cigs, you have 100's of flavors, I smoked because my brain told me I needed too, I vape because I enjoy it, smoking was a vice, vaping is a hobby.

i started on little 510 types, then a bigger 808 it worked and i liked it but it didnt fully do the job. found ecf and got a 1100 ego with a ce4 an that was the last time i wanted to smoke.

whats funny is when we start sometimes you want a smoke for no reason. well sometimes i let that urge play itself out and have one, and its funny while i try to smoke it i think about how bad i would rather be vaping.

I had quit cold turkey for 6 months and picked smokes back up for about 3 months.
I decided I was quitting again and ordered an ego kit. I bought 3 packs of smokes to last till the package arrived. I got confirmation that the kit arrived and smoked my last cig on the drive to pick it up.
I had a very strong desire to quit and powered through the first week cravings which were more mental than physical but Im not looking back now just buying more crazy gear and Awesome flavored liquid.
