Nicotine is part of the flavor profile and you want the nicotine to meld with the flavoring/PG/VG.
Yes i think that was suggested earlier in the thread. Also, i think some members steep the mix then add the nic content after.

There is an oxidation and chemical reaction that NIC causes when interacting with the flavoring/VG/PG that must occure to cause proper steeping.
i have run my batch listed previously for four lots of 30 mins ( 2 hrs) for 2 days.
as yet, no colour change. i smelt each and the flavors seemed generally opened up. However, they were warm when i smelt them. Now leaving them for a couple of days in a dark cupboard. will post before and after pics
So you're saying for those that want 0% nic, steeping will do nothing?
Best to keep reading after that post.. if it's the one I'm remembering, that was faulty data...further testing showed negligible to no NIC degradation.
No thats not what I'm saying. The question was should I steep first and add nicotine later. You stlll need to meld with VG/PG and if using Nicotine then also with the nicotine. The idea of steeping is to meld the flavor molecules with the molecules of the base liquid regardless of it's composition.

There is a "bigger, better" nic test that Mike was working on. I've been waiting to see the results of this test but I don't think they've been posted yet. Post #1485 was the last I saw mention of it.
Yes, I have not forgotten. I am hoping to be able to wrap it up this weekend. The real world has gotten in the way of my playtime. Sorry. Results will be forthcoming soon.

I tried steeping some newly made juice in my ultrasonic cleaner that I bought for cleaning firearms parts and brass cases. It's an industrial unit holds 6 liters, heating element and 30 minute timer. I made this stuff yesterday and it's still clouding today. I did four session of 30 minutes, keeping the overall temp under 110F... based on what I've read through this long thread.
It's a single Black Cherry flavour (FA), 50mg nic diluted with the proper amounts of PG and VG, the nic, PG and VG none of the stuff was cloudy when I started out...
can anyone tell me was caused it to cloud up? Is there going to be an issue with it?

I should have mentioned that I used plastic squeeze type bottles in the UC not glass I'm waiting for the glass stuff to arrive. I'm wondering if the heat caused any leeching of the plastic into the liquid? The of the water in the UC was about 110 and I did 4-30 minute sessions with a 5 minute rest between..

No clue really. Is the flavor itself clouded as well? I have an orange flavor (flavourart) that is supposed to be cloudy but the liquid itself isn't actually. Maybe suspended air bubbles? I *think* fruit flavors don't need that much steeping but cherry could be totally different. I doubt whatever might (or might not) leech of the standard plastic bottles would be visible, if any it would be in the microgram area. Maybe it's related to the very high nic content (5%)? You could also email your vendor or flavourart.
Air in the mix? Shaking will suspend air in the liquid..sitting a while should settle it out.

I have steeped many (50+) b&m bottles of pre-made juice in their own plastic 10 and 15 mL bottles. I have used 4 - 6 hours in the crock pot at or around 150°. I have used the UC for around 3 - 4 hours at similiar temperatures. (Different bottle sets.)
None have exhibited this "cloudyness". All seemed to be better for the steeping.

I wouldn't use plastic in uc or cp, the heat could leech plastic crap in the juice, and in the uc it will diminish the "sonic" waves reaching the juice.....
My snakeoil has gone cloudy. i used a glass bottle in uc cleaner. some others have yet to exhibit any colour change.
i wondered if it had got contaminated with water during uc process. i had lids on etc but some water could have entered as i would periodically remove the bottle from the uc, dry it , open it and blow fresh air into it then replace in uc with lid on. same process for others that have not changed colour so jury still out.#
