True.

But, another way to see a poster's blog is to click on the data to the left of his post. Look here for mine, and Danny's will be in the same place for his postings.

Testing and experimentation is a good thing so do lots of it. It's what helps you learn what will and won't work for you.

Read my blogs before getting started

E-Cigarette Forum - dannyv45 - Blogs

then read hoosier's blogs.

E-Cigarette Forum - Hoosier - Blogs

then read the stickies at the top of the page.

this will explain a lot of the how's and why's.

To dannyv45;

Sir,

Thank you for posting the links to your's and Hoosier's blog posts, I read through part of them today and will book mark them for reference. This info will very much help folks like me who are new to DIY, I learned quite a few things and had question's answered. Thank you for sharing!

Very interesting read in your "Sweetening and additives" blog post --> http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/blogs/dannyv45/5007-sweetening-additives.html

About the vinegar, I would think cider vinegar would have different taste then say a rice vinegar. What type/s of vinegar do you use and have experimented with different types?

I saw another member post today he uses this stevia as a sweetener --> Amazon.com : Sweetleaf Stevia Extract Clear Liquid 120ml ( 1x4 OZ) : Sugar Substitute Products : Grocery & Gourmet Food
Is that the same as the sucarlose you spoke of? Can either be used and is there any difference in flavor between them that you know of?

Thanks again! Good read in those links folks! :)

When I did experiment with vinegar I used white and apple cider but never incorporated it into my mixing. I found that although it did make flavors pop this was a short lived temporary thing. After a few days the flavors muted even worst then when initially tried. So I would recommend the use of lemon or vinegar as a method of last resort for when an old mixes flavor has faded to an unusable point.

As far as sweeteners I would use sweetener to boost sweetness and EM to inhance thickness and wetness. I would recommend no more then .5% with either. I don't use much sweetness enhancement in my mixes as I do mostly tobaccos and find it's not needed for what I mix. I do use EM quite a bit to improve thickness, body texture and wetness but don't add it as a sweetness enhancer. I have gone as high as 1% with EM for mixes that I felt were still lacking mouth feel after .5%.

Hey so I'm looking for some authentic tasting fruit flavors. Not the candy tasting stuff. Anyone kno of any?

This is a steeping thread you may be better off starting a new thread. Or asking in one of the flavor specific threads like TFA, inawera, hangsen, capella, FA etc....

Figured if ur steeping juice one of u would probly b the best to ask. But aight. No prob.

Not trying to offend it's OK to ask. Just thought you may have more luck and responses in a flavor specific thread.

Look into the inawera and hangsen flavorings most of there fruits are very good and for the most part accurate as far as authenticity goes. Capella is also a popular choice among forum members.

thanks for your advice dannyv45 on temp & time :) ...

i wasnt gonna use my UC for speed steeping but i made 10ml keylime & 10ml peach both with 0.5% EM/0.5%MTS/0.5%SOURTART,
Filled up the UC with boiling water and set her for 60mins at 60c/140F... im definatly gonna be doing this more often! it tastes better than when i've let it steep naturally, i can taste the mts, em and st amongst the flavour's they are with, very nice.. :)

the only thing i need to get now is some glass bottles, i heard you guys saying that the normal plastic bottles buffer the pulses a little, i dont know if anyone else has had good results with this aswell but i had some of the hard plastic bottles hanging around that i ordered by mistake, it seems to have worked ok from what i can tell but then it is only fruit ive steeped which is the quickest, these bottles are squeezable but its a really tough job if you had to drip from them all day.

Boiling water is 212°F. Too hot!! Staying around 150° is recommended. Just start with tepid water and let the process heat the water.

ok my friend thanks for the headsup!:) im still new to this UC... is this rght what i've read/gathered that degas is a process that prepares the water so the UC can clean better, and you need to use boilled water and degas for an hour? ... im just trying to cover my back here a little, i did this degas while i went off for a vape and when i came back the temp on the UC said 60c so i set the UC to keep that temp :D

and Rowdyplace how did you get that degree's sign? :)

degas - Not at all familier with this... I just use plain room temperature tap water and let the UC do the heating.
