So I have been reading some posts people have been making in regards to steep "procedures" and people mention that they leave the cap off over night and it makes a difference??

I am slightly confused by this as it doesnt really make sense to me BUT since I am by no means an expert at DIY so I just wanted to see if someone could enlighten me as to why that would make a difference and if it really DOES make a difference....mostly curious because the ultrasonic cleaner makes sense in that it slightly heats the liquid and also shakes it at a super high frequency.....I also have been known to let bottles "sun steep" on my back porch in the hot summer days (like sun steeped sweet tea).....but leaving a cap off overnight? I just keep having this vision of a fly getting in there.....or if you leave the dripper tip on the bottles then I wouldn't think that it would offer air flow or anything substancial like that........

Thank you

People leave the cap off to try and let alcohol evaporate (from flavorings with alcohol in them)

You definitely don't want sunlight on your juice, uv ruins nicotine and can easily ruin the taste of the juice. Or all together make it un-vapable.

If you want to use sun to steep you should put it in something. I toss them in a crown royal bag and let them sit in my car sometimes. (fully tinted and sun visor) I just stick them in my glove box or on the floor for a few hours.

Its still better just to let them sit in a closet or somewhere safe and dark. squeeze the air out everyday and shake them.

Steep is a closed bottle away from light. It is simply allowing entropy to happen.

Airing-out, or Breathe, is an open bottle away from light. It can let some of the more volatile flavoring top notes to lessen, some of the alcohol to evaporate out, and/or jump start the oxidation of the nicotine.

They do two different things to the taste of a juice and I think that since they do two different things, they should be called two different things.

Not through evaporation per se, but through oxidation. When oxygen comes into contact with nicotine, the nicotine diminishes in strength. To put it simply, letting the juice breathe will do as Hoosier says, 'jump start the oxidation' process, which inevitably leads to a diminished nic level. An overnighter won't do you any harm. A vendor did a study a long time ago about the aging of nic and if I'm not mistaken it took a month to drop down a mg/ml or two.

Look at the ingredients from your flavor vendors and see if they contain any alcohol. If they do, I'd overnight breathe your blends. If they don't, just wait a few days with closed caps.
