I'm calling BS. New Yorkers are constitutionally incapable of knowing how to BBQ. I think you mean your grill. And if it's a gas grill, it's constitutionally incapable of producing BBQ that a self-respecting feral cat would even sniff at.

Which reminds me... I picked up some hardwood smoke flavoring that I use in my DIY clone of Johnson Creek's Red Oak Domestic, and that stuff really adds the kind of throat hit @DeAnna2112 might be looking for.

[he says, deftly swinging back on topic]
Ummm.... I am a woman who BBQ's (shock and awe!!) I learned from my mom... Who was born and raised in NY... Just sayin' don't bite off more 'n what you can chew... I might be a born and bred southern redneck... But don't go tossing words about Yanks like that... I'm a fierce 'Mama Defender'. :grr:

But I know that was sarcasm... at least I hope it was. :sneaky::lol::lol:

EDITED to add... Now I know you were joking :p Sorry ;)

Dang, I always miss all the fun!

Anyway, I can't offer anything of significance other than to agree with what has already been suggested ... up your nic level, use of a favorable to you tobacco blend and perhaps, select a device with greater airflow.

I suspect most have had some semblance of this same issue at one time or another and given the commonality of the responses thus far, that would seem to hold true. The cravings will subside but may never completely leave you. I still crave a cigarette sometimes despite not having indulged in many years now and yes, it does seem more intense when I have a drink or two. I temper that urge by remembering just how difficult it was to quit smoking before I found vaping and a deep desire to never return to the clutches of cigarettes and the many negative issues that are inherent with them.

The good news is that if I could do it, I'm certain you can too!

incapable of producing BBQ that a self-respecting feral cat would even sniff at.

LMAO, you have to admit that was pretty funny.

    So, mustard or vinegar?

DeAnna, your job sounds horribly stressful and home too. I do understand some of the stressors you face, having to give someone horrible news, seeing clients sent to jail or even die from time to time is just horrible for me. It's one reason that my docs wanted me to take a break and take it easy-- my title is therapist but our case managers are just horrible and not well educated, so I end up doing waayyy more work than my job position "suggests." There are times it just sucks.

I don't know if you've ever tried WTA juice, but maybe, since you are able to get through every other situation without it, I might consider getting some and JUST using it when you are drinking. You could certainly up your nicotine and finding a good flavor to go with Jim Beam is a good idea too, but I don't think I'll ever be without my tank with a little WTA in it for stressful situations. MAOIs in tobacco alkaloids are really potent anti-stress, and anti-depressant little suckers. I was worried about WTA to start with but I do find that when I only use it during INSANE cravings or stressors, it's not hard at all to transition back to just nicotine with NO effort. I kind of look at it as my "ace in the hole". Aroma ejuice has wholesale which is unflavored, as well as a range of different e-liquids. Mother's Milk also sells WTA wholesale for less $$ as well as a range of WTA juices. They are less pricy, and I have ordered some but not tried it yet, so I can't speak to its potency. I really think that this might be a time that it could be helpful, when you are wanting to de-stress and need that "something extra." I think higher nic is a great idea as well, and if there's a flavor you like you may want to reserve it for just the evenings you drink ETOH, so that you kind of "associate" them together.

Best of luck, and I'm sorry your life situation is so stressful, it sounds like you have a huge amount of responsibility.

I don't know why but vaping doesn't cut it when i drink. I love my jim beam when i am off work. It relaxes me and i just enjoy it on my weekends off. I deal with alot of stress at work as i am in the medical field and work for a gastroenterologist office. I am a doctor's assistant and i deal with soo much stuff, including surgery back logs to translate. I have to tell patients whether they have cancer or not and read biopsy reports. It's incredibly stressful when i have to give bad news, it's me calling the patient with bad news. It's me who sets up a referral to a oncologist. I have to make sure their insurance will be covered by who i refer them to. It's me all the patients turn to when meds don't work out and it's me who calls in their prescriptions to fix it. I have to get it right with no mistakes as it's me who generally ask for doctor approval for what i think will work best for them..yeah i know what??but you guys don't know who really works behind the scenes when the doctor is most days performing surgery and busy. Just a taste of what i deal with. But drinking just makes me crave a cig still to this day. Anyone else deal with this? tips..suggestions? Please don't tell me to give up my jim beam. It's the one escape that keeps me sane on weekends after working all week. I almost gave in the other day when i had more patients then normal to call with bad news. In spite of all i have to deal with all week i have to be a counselor to these patients when i give them bad news, plus be a single parent on top of it to teenagers who still have not accepted their dad's death, something i still grieve. Maybe i just haven't found the right flavor to compliment what i drink..anyone drink jim beam and found a flavor that goes well with it. I am a trebeca person, don't like fruity flavors. Makes my mouth taste like cotton candy before i finish the tank and that gets old real fast for my taste buds.

My daughter is a CMA, (was an IDMT in the Air Force & flew AeroMed) so I know about the stress.
Point blank ... drinking only adds to the stress. It's still there when your head clears, and you still need to process it like everyone else.

Seriously, if you want to have a drink, have one for me too. Unfortunately I drank up my share years ago.

I was unsure about making this post as i didn't want people thinking i have a drinking problem. I only drink on weekends and honestly i am a light drinker, i don't get drunk per say just enough to lay back and relax.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions as i am looking into many of them. You've all been a big help I am very determined though to not go back to smoking. It was so hard to quit and don't want to go back through that nightmare again, especially when i love vaping outside of drinking. Something about drinking just triggers that urge i do not normally have when i am not drinking. Gonna try out WTA and also some of the flavors that have been recommended in this thread.

I know your pain. I used to drink and smoke. Then my son took a college psychology course on operant conditioning. For his final project he decided to write a paper on it. Every time he saw me drink or smoke, he'd shoot me in the head with a pellet gun. I told him to knock it off but every time I chased him he could outrun me. Now I don't drink or smoke and my head is lumpy. He got an A and a restraining order (which his mom told him not to pay attention to).

The wife and I went out to eat at a sports bar last night for wings and beer. We both got wings and we shared a pitcher of Shock Top. When we left I was jonesing for nic. I vape at 4mg when I'm vaping my DIY juice and any of the premium juice I have is 3mg. I said that to say this...when we were getting in the car and while driving to Walmart (I hate that place and we will go out of our way to not go there but it was right there so we stopped. Anyways....) I was hotboxing the car. My wife can't stand when I fog up a small area wether it be the car or the bedroom and I was chain vaping like it was going out of style! We ran in and out of Walmart the quickest we could and on the 10 min drive home I was chain vaping again. When we got home the first thing I did was go for my 6mg DIY juice to handle the nic craving. It's funny cause I wasn't craving a cig or cigar (i smoked Newports before I worked at a vape shop 4 years ago and after I left I went to smoking Black & Mild's for 3 yrs until I went back to vaping 1 1/2 yrs ago) I was craving nicotine. It was a bit of a different feeling craving nic rather than the smokes. The 6mg satisfied my craving. One good thing about doing DIY juice is you can mix whatever nic level you want so in times like that you can grab whatever higher nic level juice you made instead of paying 4X the price for a higher nic level if premium juice you will only use while drinking.

I actually mix my own nic, vg and pg and just dilute it down with my favorite flavor which is trebeca from halo. I so love that flavor and it only takes a alittle for me or my mouth starts getting a sticky after taste i don't like. I did try upping my nic which helped some, but still didn't solve my craving. I think's it's psychological to be honest after putting much thought into this. It's the same with my first cup of coffee in the morning, i still always think about a cig. But i refuse to give in to BT and stand my ground. It's just annoying that after 3yrs of vaping it haunts me...STILL:(

When I first quit smoking I used to keep a 10ML bottle of high octane e-Liquid around for this situation but I have never needed it in a very long time. Although thinking about it maybe filling a 10ML Bottle with some 48MG might just be the answer to stop my sweetie from ragging on me for fogging out the den! Time to hit the calculator to see how many drops per tank!

I tell myself, go ahead and light one. Then without paying attention to my next act I distract myself with looking over my vape equipment. Many times clicking on FastTech to see what other stuff I'd like. Take a few hits of a vape, and forget about the cigarette.
Some times I'll light a cig, take 2 hits, place it in the ash tray, and vape forgetting about the burning cigarette to look over and see a 3" long ash. ( And feeling satisfied that I really didn't enjoy it.)
I smoked 50+ cigarettes a day. ( I have pounds of tobacco still in the home and an electric injector.( My wife can't handle vapping, and I make her a pack a day.) There's packs of cigarettes laying around me at any moment. I tell myself I don't care if I quit for good.)
Without lying, I smoke 2 to 5 cigarettes a day. Not chain smoking and not all the way down to the filter like I used to. And at least 1 of the cigarettes I light, I'll hit 2-3 times and flick it away.( If NOT 2 OF THEM )
What I know when I quit smoking 2 times before, 8 months the 1st time and 9 months the next time, ( When the vape / vape equipment went bad, it made me want to light a cig. )
So now, with years of experience with building and buying the newer and better mods / tanks / wires, { I love the Nichrome } I told my self I'm not gonna quit, I'll have one later,,, and I find I don't think about it. This makes it easy the 3rd time round to control myself from chain smoking. ( My DIY juice flavors are on top with the best of the best store bought stuff.)
The last few days I lit up 7 cigarettes. Two of which I flipped away after 3 hits..
    That's a lot better than 50+ cigarettes a day.
My worst day was last weekend... I figured I lit 8 cigarettes... And yes, I was drinking... Tequila.
Bottom line: Don't be hard on yourself, it will come a time when you won't think (or) care too light up... As Long As Your Vape Equipment is Performing GOOD..

As of the last few days, I found adding 4-5 drops of Dekang Cohiba 16mg to my everyday vape keeps the flavor changing.... For the better.
Some times 2-3 drops of French Vanilla or Toffee Cream flavor, or any of the 50 to hundred flavorings a purchased for the DIY juice part / hobby...
This has changed the vape experience to all new satisfaction.
( YOU NEED TO BE SATISFIED WITH YOUR VAPE QUALITY TO MAKE IT EASIER )

I do the same with my DIY or retail e-Liquids even adding some of my standalone DIT Flavors to retail e-Liquids. Whatever works for you!
