All summed up:
You have to satisfied with your equipment....
You have to be satisfied with the throat hit, cloud, what ever it is that you enjoy.
And last. You have to be satisfied with your juice. The flavor and the nicotine level.
When all three of the above conditions are met with happily, Not wanting a cigarette is made relatively easy.

Before I ever achieved all of these elusive things, I just had to quit Cold Turkey and then worked on finding the perfect vape.

Although i completely agree with this, i think it's something you do progressively not all at once (pretty impossible anyway imho). I've been vaping since..... End of june i think ? and to this day i haven't found THE perfect setup for me, i'm getting there slowly unfortunately for my wallet it might still take a while XD. I did however found what i think is great mod for me (predator 228) i was using my baby beast rba for the flavor and now i'm thinking of getting into rtas with something like the serpent smm (basically had alot of suggestions and that was the best answer). I still very highly doubt i'll diy my liquids but hell at least i'll save money from coils and i'll be able to control my stuff even better now !

:lol::lol:. I am a therapist and would never pay one 200 bucks for help quitting, or hypnosis either. I found out for free that hypnosis doesn't work on me when some dude came to "Continuing Educational Credit Hours for learning hypnosis" to our agency. LOL, he used me as a test subject and to be polite, I did not say what I was thinking the whole time, "This is BS." Instead, I played along using my imagination. I don't know if he was just a a sub-par hypnotist, or if it just doesn't work on me, but I wasn't about to pay more to find out....

With a therapist, you'll either get someone who never smoked and didn't understand smoking, or someone who quit and will endorse their methods. It's a lot easier to get good advice from former-smokers who vape, than using therapy for this habit. TBH, I think often the "free" methods of managing addiction work WAY better than the "medical/therapeutic" approach, and smoking is the hardest addiction to quit... (IMO) and I've dealt with a few, LOL.

With that said, no method works for everyone, but IMO the least value for money you get when dealing with an addiction is entering the medical health field. Some rehabs have merit, certainly, but I'm not sure hearing "Just don't do it," or getting "hypnotized" is the way to go. Or Chantix, etc., but again, everyone's different, and some things work better than others for different folks.

With that said, you are going to get a certain placebo effect for getting paid advice that you can easily get for free. That's not necessarily a bad thing, even if you *know* something is a placebo, in many cases the placebo effect remains... Which I'm actually fond of, if I can actually BELIEVE something will work, that is going to make my efforts a whole lot more fruitful....

I would never go to a hypnotist again. Last time I went, it was a disaster. I guess the signs were there that he was a whack job. Who charges $15 for a therapy session? Another indicator was that Dr. Feelgoods office was in his van. I remember getting into the van and the next thing I remember is waking up chained to a chair in his basement with a bucket of popcorn on my lap. Don't worry, he didn't do anything freaky to me. Turns out he wasn't a Dr. at all. He just wanted to perform his one man show of Steel Magnolias for someone since none of his friends would show up to his play. I was really angry at first and about half way through the play I managed to slip out of the chains. I was going to call the cops but his rendition of the play was breathtaking to the point of tears and I stayed until the end. After my third standing ovation, I clocked him and knocked him out - not for kidnapping me and making me watch his play but for making me miss their all acoustic revival of Um Bop and other classics by Hanson I had tickets to that night.

i would never go to a hypnotist, that stuff freaks me out to bad. It's only a problem when i drink though. Outside of that i don't even think about a cig. I have tried some of the suggestions on this thread and it seems to be helping make things better, like upping my nic, trying a new tobacco flavor but i must say upping my nic has produced the best results.

I'm glad it's working well for you DeAnna! It sounds like you have a lot on your plate right now, I'd hate a nice few beers (or whatever) to be ruined by uncontrollable cigarette cravings! :)

Anna

Thanks Stols! it's my escape on the weekends, please know i don't get drunk i just like to kick back and look at the lake and throw a few steaks on the grill..as i love to cook. I have teenagers over all weekend long that i cook for who i have turned into vapers. I helped them buy their first gear! they come over with questions and such, and i do the best i can to answer their questions, but i always refer them to this forum for EXPERT advise...i don't see myself as expert advice in comparison to what can be offered on this forum. Great forum with really great people who know far more then me..lol

Um, you don't sound like a drunk to me and you never have on this thread, so I wouldn't worry too much about it. I AM a drunk, so I can spot them, sometimes, LOL, I can never have a few beers on the weekends or any other day, I like to think I drank up my share of booze by the time I hit 23,, cheers me up when I look at those who use it responsibly and harmlessly.... Don't stress. :) I don't, I enjoy Strong Coffee and the wonders of chamomile tea when I need to chill out.... But I'm glad you are approaching a solution for your weekends, and I also enjoy ALL the things non-drunks enjoy, I just do it with a tonic water and lime, instead of a G&T. ;)

Well, I have been vaping for four years and still smoke a few butts per day. Of course my goal is always (and still is) to quit completely, but I have an addictive personality. Not using that as an excuse, but that is the reason I stopped drinking BEFORE it became a problem - alcoholism runs in the family.

Bottom line for me is the 25,000 cigarettes I did not smoke over these four years.

That is a major win for me, and I am unapologetic about my dual use.
